I agree. I say Dempsey wins by KO. It could be 1 round it could go 8 or more, but I dont believe Spinks can survive the distance. I think Spinks can prove awkward but not enough to outbox Dempsey. He'd be on the defensive too much. That's the way I picture it.
Absolutely. If Spinks rematched Tyson then I think there is a verry real chance he could have made it to the later rounds. I would train him for the fight but I would expect paying even if he lost.
I think you hit the nail right on the head there mate. When people make comparisons where Spinks is involved, I believe they invision him losing to anyone who could punch based on his last and worst performance. Although I have no evidence to back this up, I have speculated for nearly 20 years now that the Jinx decided to make it an easy payday.
I don't agree whatsoever he made it an easy payday. Spinks was made of stern stuff, and was a winner thru and thru. The funny thing you know, from memory he was actually given more chance vs Tyson than he was against Holmes :yikes Agree with the rest tho :good
Looking at the Spinks-Cooney fight, I reckon Spinks was a reasonably beefy 208 pound heavyweight, legit. He looked strong, pretty big. I dont think he was in great shape for Tyson at 212 though. His physique looks a bit soft, a bit undertrained. I know he had those bad knees that impeding the amount of running he could do. I think he was definitely not conditioned for Tyson. Then again, I think he probably had nagging doubts over whether he could really beat Tyson anyway, and I think he was never in love with the pro boxing game. At that point, he didn't have to fire to get up for such a daunting challenge. But I think he came to fight, and you cant fault Tyson.
