That was the worst Calzaghe I have seen, not just because of Hopkin's style. The Joe Calzaghe who fought Lacy and Kessler would have a much better chance against Spinks. Just because Joe was knocked down at LHW doesn't mean he was hurt, he certainly didn't look hurt. True, he never faced a fighter like Spinks, then again Spinks never faced a fighter with Joe's speed, workrate and adabtibility. 60:40 in favor of Spinks, but not impossible for Joe to win a decision.
If old ass versions of Hop, and Roy can drop Calzaghe, then I pray for his life when the Jinx hits him. Spinks KO 4.
Spinks by KO. Hopkins and Jones Jr (both when old) managed to drop Calzaghe early with awkwardly timed shots as Joe came in. Michael was a master at doing this and he hit harder than Roy and Bernard. Spinks KO 5.
I think so too. Joe was coming to the end of his career when he moved up in weight. A prime Spinks would be too much.
Spinks is never going to ko Calz in 1 round ffs. He's a slow lazy starter and takes time to get into things unless the opponent is called Braxton or Qawi. The big variable here is that spinks is often lazy until woken up. Joe's power will not wake him up. Joe would have his success until Spinks got his teeth into the battle. Spinks will win, but Joe will have a better time for a period than everyone is granting.
Calzage was at home at 168 much like Carlos and Marvin were at 160, Michael Spinks was a big 175 and at home there , even though Calzage fought 2 fights at light heavy, his division was 168 Spinks by decision
