Fun fight, I reckon Spinks would really start hitting Parlov late with hard punches after a confusing, muddled, stop-start early-mid.
Mate Parlov with his awkward southpaw style that caused confusion for challenger John Conteh in their June 1978 WBC title bout would have caused some confusion for Michael Spinks. But once Spinks got his jets going, this bout would have looked like the Dec 2 1978 WBC title bout between challenger Marvin (Pops) Johnson and Parlov, the effective aggressiveness of Spinks and the Spinks Jinx would end this bout by round 7, for a Spinks victory.
This is a significant difference in the quality of boxers and Jynx Spinks wins by knockout. Michael Spinks is LHW ATG after all. Even Michael Spinks was chosen from the members of this Forum for LHW ATG No.3: This content is protected Just as I don't think Mate Parlov would have been LHW Champion at all if Michael Spinks was a candidate for LHW Champion then, I also don't think Slobodan Kachar would have become LHW Champion if Jynx hadn't become a heavyweight. Parlow and Kachar are boxers and champions from the same country at the time, which has since disbanded, but they are no match for Michael Spinks TBH.
Thanks buddy. I saw the highway robbery in June 1978 when former champion John Conteh was robbed in Yugoslavia against WBC Champion Mate Parlov. But in truth, Conteh did struggle early on until midway thru the fight.
