He went 2-0 vs. Larry Holmes

    WBA-
    Tate
    Weaver
    Dokes
    Coetzee
    Page
    Tubbs
Witherspoon (he was also WBC champ)
    Smith

    WBC-
    Thomas
    Berbick

    IBF-
    Tucker

So, how well does Pre-Tyson Spinks (late '85-'87) do vs. these guys?

Spinks was 200 Lbs. for the first Holmes fight. Vs. Cooney he was 209 Lbs. and carried it well. At 6'2" with a 76" reach he was not undersized IMO. He was faster and a better overall boxer than most of these guys. He also had pretty good power as a heavy... he dropped Cooney in the 5th and stopped him in the 7th.

I think Spinks vs. Witherspoon, Dokes, Thomas, or Tucker would be good fights.

All of them were capable of beating Spinks, imo. I doubt that all of them actually would have done though,as they were underachievers. Mainly because of motivational issues.
