Michael Spinks vs prime Holmes

This is an interesting idea, that era of heavies (Mustafa, Braxton, Saad, Johnson, Spinks) was easily my favorite.

Mustafa Muhammad is way undermentioned overall imo, a really fine light heavy.

 

I did not see Spinks land that many punches in the first fight, at least not cleanly.Larry deflected a lot of flurries with his arms and kept that jab in Spinks face all night long.It was a scorer’s nightmare.I think we disagree if you think this was a clear win by Spinks.I think Larry edged it by a point but have no problems with the official verdict because it was a close fight

 

Yeah the official punch stat were as follows.
Spinks threw 697 and landed 318
Holmes threw 567 and landed 248
This was the graphic reported by HBO at the end of the fight.

Now, how much credibility you put in peoples ability to count punches “punch stat “is debatable obviously. I’ve watched fights where the punch stat doesn’t seem to add up to what I feel like I’ve been seeing.

I’m going to try and score the first fight over this holiday weekend and see how my card comes out.
