Louis and Marciano had their punching power to bail them out vs Walcott and I don't think that Spinks had that type of power outside of LHW. It took prime Ezzard to out box prime Walcott and perhaps Spinks could replicate what Ezzard did, I wouldn't put it past him. But I think the best Walcott, who was bigger and stronger than Spinks, would be a tough as hell opponent for Spinks.

Also, remember that 36 year old Walcott KO'd 22 year old Harold Johnson in 3. Harold Johnson was a LHW great in the same category (at least arguably) as Spinks.

Spinks beats Cooper - cooper was not great finisher and not nearly the boxer Spinks was, Walcott is tough to figure. Style wise I like Spinks but Walcott could crack and maybe chin check him.

Cooper when he was right (off drugs and motivated) would fight you to the death practically. But Spinks is just too skilled, awkward, slippery, smart and most of all a fitness machine who could go 15 if needed no issues. Cooper will have moments early but as he fatigues late Spinks will pour it on while piling up the points and probably stop Bert on his feet in around 11 rounds. He’s just too active for Cooper late.

Walcott and Spinks would be a very unique, two fighters who had very unique styles. The Walcott waltz vs Spinks and he’s awkward weird version of the same move. I’ll still go with Spinks in a closely contested fight where they take turns leading and setting traps. Two tricky smooth operators but again I’ll take Spinks and his overall tools to win the close one.

No? I'm just realistic about the level of those performances. It also helps that I've watched them. There's no way Walcott was "kicking Marciano's ass".
I know. Walcott was prime for everything I mentioned.
Why couldn't he EVER repeat such a punch? Why couldn't he ever KO someone like that again? Why couldn't he convincingly beat Charles again? It was a fluke result. A complete anomaly in his career.

If Walcott can ice Ezzard Charles , he can beat Spinks.

Walcott was only around 6 foot tall if my memory serves and usually weighed just a shade under 200 pounds. So how much bigger of a man is he then Spinks actually?

This fight is a competitive one and a hard one to call because of the unique clash of styles though.

Walcott was a lot more thick boned and muscular. Spinks was a lot more lanky and slender boned. Look at a 205 pound Spinks and a 194 pound Walcott, Walcott still looks more muscular and powerfully built. Walcott was more mesomorphic (https://www.britannica.com/science/mesomorph) and Spinks was more ectomorphic (https://www.britannica.com/science/ectomorph)

But I do agree this would be competitive.
