I'll go with Tubbs. Decision bout all the way. This is the kind of opponent he'd get ready and prepared for. Then, lose his next fight against a lesser foe. I think he'd land some of those quick combos on Spinks. That'd keep Michael from getting comfy in there and would make him work harder than he wants to.
Tough fight for Spinks. Tubbs was big and had fast hands. I think Spinks would win a decision, but it could also go to Tubbs. I wouldn't be shocked by a disputed draw.
An in shape Tubbs beats up Spinks. Bigger, faster and a better boxer. How is Spinks going to win outside of a knockout?
Given his history, you would have to roll the dice that Tubbs wouldn't arrive in shape or focussed. But if he did, he would have the advantages here.
Very good fight. Two very high IQ Boxers. Tubbs had great speed and very good reflexes, exceptional Reflexes for a man of his size and dimensions. He wasn’t a very good puncher but he could and would land often because of his speed and the swinging looping angles that he would whip punches from. He was an excellent boxer. Spinks his unique awkwardness was to his great advantage. The Spinks version of the Walcott waltz, leaping in with hooks, you never knew where Michael might attack from.. He was also in FANTASTIC condition so he would give Tubbs hell down the stretch. Both guys are slow starters so they should offset each other’s tendencies to start slow by both starting slow.. I see Tubbs out in front early but Spinks will rally in the second half of the fight and even sting Tubbs a few times with the Jinx and win on points.
