Where do you rank it among the great jabs in history? I thought he had an absolutely terrific jab. Not only was it great at simply keeping guys off balance and unable to set (Qawi), but it was also a punishing jab. He seemed to have a lot of snap in it. When you're told to turn your jabs over, it often looks like he times it well, turning it over at the point of impact.
Awesome jab. He put more body into it than just about any fighter I've seen. Same as he did with all of his punches.
Ranquello is his definitive jabbing performance as I see it, splashing one after another into Ramon's face until it was splashed red. (And having beaten and now preparing for a rematch with Rossman, Ranquello should have been ready to deal with a first rate jab from Michael as a last minute substitute.)

Jeez, that's almost a Quartey vs Park type jab exhibition. That jab is certainly fast, hard and accurate, I do think that at least in this fight Spinks was showing a few issues with his footwork after the jab and overextending it slightly. Unfortunately I have watched almost no Spinks fights, so I really need more exposure to give an informed opinion. Going to watch the second video now. Ok, finished the second video, you can Spinks has put a little extra work into his mechanics by this point. He still has some of the same flaws, but not nearly as obvious as it was against Ranquello. (Of course, that could be due to greater confidence since Ranquello was a much lesser fighter, not to mention Mustafa Muhammad's better defense and jabbing back.) My impression is that Spinks had a nasty, tough jab to be on the other end of. Not perfect, but certainly it would qualify as one of the best of a generation.
