Sanders was a great talent. He had just the right style to trouble the modern super heavys like the Klits or Lewis. I think he'd have had some problems against the truly elite burrowers who could have taken away his space, and obviously his lack of dedication has to be factored into all this. But when you consider that he comprehensively destroyed Wladimir — far more than one punch — and genuinely hurt Vitali, that has to earn admiration.
Arguably. But NOT by far. Sprott is still a live dog vs any contender, prospect and has shown much better strength in adversity than Bruno. Bruno was a world champ too wasn't he?
solis does have talent but he isnt as tough and cant bang anything like sanders.sanders was just one of those guys you HAD to do your homework on.you could not just turn up and beat him..solis on the other hand can have all the ability in the world but hes that much of a lazy ******* he would never be able to pull of an upset due to lack of power..he cant outbox a champion over 12 rounds if you get what im saying...solis is known to smell the lines from the football field if you catch my drift...
Nah, hadn't heard. Never figured those types to be fat lazy pigs either. As for being tough and having KO power.......I dislike Solis, but I do see flashes of toughness and power. He is a lazy POS for sure, but the book is still unwritten on whether he can become that powerful dominant fighter that is somewhere in that lazy POS body and mind of his.
You get an idea how fast and heavy sanders hit when you compare his performance v a prime Sprott where he seemed to barely connect with Sprott but looked like he punched through his guard and flattened him in the first round for a nine count and fight stopped although he wanted to continue against Anthony Joshua's recent fight with an overweight about finished Sprott....he couldn't put him down although ref jumped in to stop it while he was on the ropes!.
Corrie Sanders is easily the hardest puncher Ive fought --Michael Sprott Also 7:38 mark [yt]WRFhsXG3J3w[/yt]
That kind of showed Sanders at his best and his worst. Yes he had fast hands and power but he was also very vulnerable to punchers himself. He didn't have a great chin, hence why the hometown ref stopped the fight at the first opportunity once it was obvious Sprott was at the very least dangerous. Sanders over achieved, he was never a top contender and other than Wlad on his resume he achieved nothing of note. The fact that Sprott could easily be regarded as a top 10, maybe even top 5 win for Sanders shows how **** poor his resume was outside of Wlad. People saying he could have been a great are crazy. He had one victory against a version of Wlad that was very vulnerable as shown by wins by Purrity and Brewster. At best Sanders proved by beating that version of Wlad he was better than Purrity and Brewster but that's it. The one other time Sanders stepped up and faced a genuine contender he was TKO'ed by an overweight Rahman.
People always say that but when all is said and done Sanders easily beat 3 ATG's not one. His schooling of Johnny Nelson and his early destruction of carlos DeLeon are always underrated. Say what you want about Nelson but he still holds the record as longest reigning CW champ.
There you go. Sprott on Joshua's power compared to Sanders' 1:00 mark ''He's strong but obviously it was nothing like a Corrie Sanders. That was just unhuman power, man.'' [YT]UGD2MuNujAY[/YT]
Undoubtedly. Look at Kovalev's story, and how he was sooooooo close to going back to Russia and getting a job. Had Sanders just continued to stay in shape, taking the stiffs he could get, he'd get that call from a Duva or Arum or King and he'd have been a top 20 ATG having wins over the likes of Holyfield, Tyson and Bowe. And ALL BY KO.:thumbsup
