Yes i know that but still you would think that they wba and ibf would seek to be represented by strongest boxer they could still ask their fee and not recognize wbo. I really don't know if DM knew which organization is more presige and maybe didnt didn't care. Most likely he did as his manager told him. Looking back wbo should thank DM as he is pioneer of making wbo legitmite title. Also was hill with don king? Maybe universum didn't want to deal with him.
Serge, We’ve all discussed this so many times over the years. Ha! Roy shouldn’t deserve any criticism for not having gone over to Germany. It doesn’t matter that Hill went over. Hill deserves huge credit for that. But it doesn’t mean that because Hill did, Roy should also have gone. Roy had all 3 of the main belts. The consensus no.1 P4P fighter in the world doesn’t go to Germany with all 3 belts. Roy said from the outset that he wouldn’t go to Germany. Dariusz told the media that he’d be willing to fight Roy in the U.S. Kerry Davis of HBO, states that every time they tried to negotiate with Kohl to discuss the specifics, he was never available to negotiate with them. After the stalemate, Roy tried to fight Hopkins, before going on to fight Tarver and Ruiz. Whereas Dariusz just continued to defend his WBO belt against mainly low ranked opposition. Regarding Hopkins, he demanded $10m or no fight, despite the fact that apart from his fight with Tito, he was fighting for purses of just over $1m. He actually turned down a $6m offer. It’s a shame that we never saw the fight. I can’t blame either guy for not travelling. But unless it was Kohl who stopped it from happening, I think Dariusz deserves criticism for stating that he’d have been willing to have fought Roy in the U.S. when that clearly wasn’t the case.
I don’t know the exact dates he was stripped, but he should have just relinquished his WBO belt. He didn’t need it after beating Hill for the main titles. He was in the driving seat then. He knew the WBO was the lesser title. Everybody did. I’d love to know why he didn’t relinquish it. Again, he must have known that the WBA wouldn’t let him hold that belt alongside theirs, especially as the WBO were ex WBA members. Regarding King, he had Guthrie who was with the IBF. I couldn’t see Universum and Peter Kohl dealing with King.
Who knows Jarmine Taylor didn't know or care about belts. Most likely it was promoters that decided to keep wbo belt of witch they had full control, and after beating rival champ thought that they had legimited their case as number 1 in division. Would be nice to ask about this to DM.
