A Glass Jaw crack's and both of them look at eachother wondering who's Chin got expossed! Lennox then begins to feel woooozy, and yet another one punch knockout loss for LL....lol nahh, It would be tuff fight to call for me, I have always liked both of these fighter's, Tho in all honesty I can't see MM being able to handle LL's size and strength. Moorer would defo not be able to withstand a Lewis right hand. Lennox by K.O. 3
It always ends with moorer on the floor. His power wasn't as good as a heavy as it was at light heavy.
Moorer was lucky to fight Holyfield with heart problems. And he still needed some more luck to get MD even over this version of Holyfield. There is always a chance for upset (especially if Lewis underestimates him, gets fat and undertrained), but otherwise I have to agree with roscoe.
And Holyfield's win over Moorer isn't tainted by Moorer having surgery prior to the bout? Give me a break.
I'd favour Lewis sure, he has the more complete skillset. But heavy-handed southpaws are a rare breed, and Moorer did carry knockout power at the weight, just not as much p4p as he did at 175. In any event, he carries more than enough power to take Lewis out, if he lands the right punch. So too does Lewis for that matter. I don't think it would end early. I see a quite competitive fight for the first few rounds with Lewis winning the majority of them, but Moorer will have his moments. Ultimately Moorer just isn't quite as good as Lewis, so for me it's Lewis over 12 or by knockout anytime from round 7 onwards.
Morrer vs Lewis would have been an interesting match in the mid 1990's. Morrer in his prime might have been a tad better than the Holyfield that Lewis defeated. I think Lewis would win here, but if he underestimated Moorer and did not train hard, an upset could happen. Best guess is Lewis via Mid round TKO. Only a few know for sure, but Lewis might have had problems with southpaws. He delcined to meet Chirs Byrd, and gave Byrd one of hsi belts to fight someone else ( Mike Grant? )
Greg Gorrell was a southpaw, and I thought there was another one Lewis fought...can't remember. I've no idea about how he might've got on with southpaws in the amateurs, he had almost a hundred fights so he was bound to bump into a few. The lack of substantive southpaws at heavyweight over the years means that not many have ended up fighting quality ones... As for this fight, I think Moorer can actually do fairly well in an early jab-fest. At his best at HW, his jab was fairly quick and heavy. Even in the rematch against Holyfield where he lost, his jab (in spurts) was every bit as good as when it got him the title in '94. What I think makes the difference is Lewis's reach and heavier firepower, ultimately he's going to be able to get it into a more bruising affair and I have more doubts about Moorer's durability than I do about Lewis. I would probably pick Lewis KO7. Maybe he could try to bum-rush him and get an early KO like Tua did, trapping Moorer on the ropes...but I'd like to think that Moorer was generally craftier than that major mistake in 2002 vs Tua.
Lewis was paid by Don King to dump either the WBA or IBF. Grant was seen as the heir apparent and Lewis fought him, the WBA stripped him for this. Lewis then fought Tyson, the fight everyone wanted to see and was stripped for not facing Byrd Given Wlad and Golota beat up on Byrd its safe to assume Lewis would too. As for the thread Lennox KO5 but maybe an early round KO, a first round KO is possible here. Lewis had the straight right hand and left hook to handle any none spectacular lefty
Close fight if it goes 12, could be a knockout either way. Hard to pick, both guys had good stamina and I can definately see the southpaw giving Lewis trouble. Both guys are definately vulnerable to the knockout because they both have questionable chins and great power! Moorer matches up fairly well with Lewis IMO. He has good size, power, skills and he was crafty in his prime. His only downfall is his chin, but Lewis has that same problem. I'd put my money on Lewis if it was ending in a KO, but it's 50/50 for a decision win IMO.
I liked both of these smart fighters. But I think it's more likely that Lewis hurts Moorer before the opposite happens.
