    Old George.

Can Spinks potshot his way to victory?

Mother Russia once exploded a 100 megaton H-bomb.

It just take "one" when your chin is basically lightheavy grade.

This is an interesting matchup. Foreman has the power to put Spinks away with one solid right hand, but Spinks has enough ability, ring savvy, and experience to outbox the slower Foreman over 12 rounds. If I had to pick, I would lean towards Spinks, who unlike Moorer would be smart enough to come up with a gameplan and execute it against Foreman.

Are you trying to suggest Foreman may have had a weak chin?

But didn't he beat a heavy hitter in Frazier?

I'd give Spinks about as much a chance of winning this one as icicles forming on Satan's nuts.

A young Foreman, who was very adept at cutting the ring off, would stalk Spinks, corner him, and just overpower him. Early stoppage for Foreman.

Just how big was this "young Foreman".

Of course size has zero to do with power... I suppose a fat 400 pound guy may be able to smother a 140 pound person... but that is only a pondering.

So just how big was this "young Foreman"? If he's only a couple hundred pounds and some change, I understand why he got that gut later on

Foreman would walk Spinks down and KO him when he caught upto him. If Foreman made his comeback earlier (circa 1985) that comebacking version would have beaten Spinks for the World Title imo

Just about everybody figured that Michael would get destroyed the first time Cooney laid a glove on him, and Gerry had more speed than the mature Foreman. I expect Mike would replicate Tommy Morrison in outboxing George. We're discussing one of the smartest boxers to ever come down the pike. He hit Holmes from angles Larry had never seen before, and Holmes was far more experienced than GF ever had an opportunity to become.

Moorer had won every minute of every round before George put him to sleep, and Spinks was too smart to try putting Foreman away. He'd secure a scorecard win as early as possible, then run for his life.

If George managed to hit Michael as often as Larry did, Spinks would get taken out. But Foreman never had the handspeed or skills of a Holmes or Tyson.

    Spinks UD Foreman

    Spinks could be VERY mobile.

There's no shame in a peak Tyson chasing you down when you've got a bum knee.

I think Foreman would catch him, mid-to-late rounds.

Moorer was a better heavyweight than Spinks, IMO.

Spinks was impressive against Cooney but Cooney was damaged goods, and couldn't take a punch to begin with.

Spinks beat a horribly sluggish 35 year-old Holmes, who on that night had feet as slow as old George had, and Holmes DID LAND PUNCHES. Holmes had crappy power though.
Foreman would knock Michael Spinks out, like he did with Moorer.

Agreed, and I'll also ad that Moorer had a bit more sting to his punches at heavyweight, and he was landing often on George to no apparent avail. I'm not even sure that Spink's shots would be very effective against George's chin and defense.
