I believe Spinks would be cagey enough to avoid Morrison's power punches and pick his punches well eventually hurting Morrison and then finishing him off.

Spinks at his heavyweight best is too awkward and slick for Tommy. I think Tommy would gas out. Spinks didn't have much power as a heavyweight so I think prime Tommy could last the distance.

    Agreed.

By that stage of the game, Mike did not have the footwork and mobility to deal with those hard punches of Morrison early. And I sure do not see Spinks ever handling those hard body shots from this guy. Just like the Tyson bodyshots, I think those legs freeze up. And he just cannot be in front of this guy. He has to use that herky jerky footwork to provide angles & like yourself, think Morrison's punches move him every time and the follow ups finish things.

I think a Bruno gets Spinks out of there a little later, but that's another tough tough fight & I just don't like Spinks having to dig deep as a heavy against hitters. The deterioration factor of digging that deep to beat a Morrison would do him no good whatsoever and lead to future losses.

Spinks by stoppage. But my prediction is based on more of a styles argument than using the Gerry C. fight as a gauge which some are. That 1987 showing of Gerry was atrocious.. 1993 Morrison who beat Foreman was better than that version of C--ney, and might have given spinks a decent fight before being stopped late.

Spinks probably wins with a 1st round KO.

****ey was hungover when he fought Spinks. ****ey was in better shape and not hungover when he fought Foreman.

Spinks is vastly overrated by previous posts. I doubt that he stops Morrison.

It's definitely ****ey's own doing, but he was messed up at the time of the Spinks fight.

I'd like to hear it from people in his camp, which I haven't so far. Link me if you have it. I'm skeptical of what comes out of ****ey's mouth.

C00ney was a big grown man. Only children and teenagers would use "hangover" or "I was doing drugs" as an excuse for losing a fight. No one forced him.
    Pathetic.

C00ney was really not ready to fight at that stage in his life, and he was hurting Spinks anyway before he got caught.

Gotta admit, I think Morrison will spark him.

Excuses or no excuses.. The reality is that Spinks was in there with a man who had seen one round of boxing in nearly three years, showed up at a career high weight, had a well talked about drinking problem and clearly had no love of the game anymore.. Of course spinks shouldn't be punished for showing up ready to fight.

And in this case it was:

Spinks could not take Morrison's power, and once hit, would be in a compromised catch 22.

If Spinks tired to win, he's getting whacked.

Running and jabbing would not give him much on the cards. Spinks could not box Morrison the way Lennox Lewis did. Not a chance. He was simply too small to do that.

Essentially Spinks strategy would be to survive and hope Morrison gasses. Morrison had trouble with Ross Purrity, but Puritty hit much harder and took a much better punch. Spinks was shaken up by an older Holmes. Once Morrison lands clean to the head or body, this one's going to end swiftly.

Not sure that I agree with Spinks not being able to take Morrison's power. The Tyson fight looked very much like a dive to me as Spink's figured he had no chance and this was the only stoppage of Michael's career.. It came at age 32 after only having fought once in 20 months and against a man who was leagues better than Morrison was anyway.. Spinks took some hard shots from Holmes and C00ney, albeit faded versions of them and could go 15 rounds. He was leagues better in skill and ring savvy than Tommy was.. Have some forgotten that Morrison was knocked out in one round by a 10-1 nobody or dropped twice by a thoroughly washed up Carl The Truth? I think these performances should weigh into the equation.
