Excellent post. And I'll that Tyson and Morrison are universes apart. In addition, if this were a match between the best versions of Spinks and Tommy, then I'd pick the Spinks of 1985-86.. Not the one of 1988. Using the Tyson defeat as a reason for picking Morrison is so moot and on so many levels, I can't even comprehend why its been mentioned.

Morrison would do no better than Tangstad.

:lol::lol: You can not be serious.

Tangstad? Oh Sure, he had 2 Ko's in 28 fights and was already stopped in 4 rounds vs a 10-2-1 fighter before facing Spinks.

A perfectly safe fight for Spinks.

Tangstad never beat a ranked opponent in the top 30.

You would struggle to find a weaker title challenger since 1980.

    Yes.

He looked sharp, not heavy and was doing very very well. He did not look like a rusty out of shape fighter.

    He was on that night.

Mercer had a cement head. He kept coming forward and keeping the pressure on him which is reason why Morrison gassed.

Spinks would not do that ( Or be able to take the punches Mercer did ) , so its highly unlikely Morrison gasses.

Morrison's stamina only really cost him in one fight. This one out of 50 something. And I highly doubt Spinks could take it. He was down early vs a body shot. Morrison had KO's to the body.

Spinks was mostly an attrition Knock Out guy at light heavyweight, scoring his stoppages late more so than early. In fact he was a middle weight in the Olympics.

When a bigger puncher with skills and speed is in there vs a smaller man, the puncher can pick his spots, the little guy without power is the one on the run.

    Yep.
And Morrison would do just as poorly against Spinks.

I do believe Morrison would beat Tangstad though.

The only question for me is could Tangstad survive 1 round with Michael Bentt.

Tommy Morrison is BY FAR the most overrated heavyweight on this forum, and there's plenty of competition.

    He wasn't very good.
His claim to fame is a stick and run decision against a 44-year-old Foreman, and I wouldn't be surprised if Foreman carried him as a favour to Arum. Just my personal opinion.

Morrison was an animal when he was on fire. The best Morrison seen on film who dominated Foreman knocks Spinks out and im very high on Spinks.

There were times Spinks looked like he was having a heat attack in between rounds against an old Holmes.
Holmes body shots took a lot out of Spinks and he struggled extremely hard to scr.ape out a points.

The heavy handed shots of Morrison would bend Spinks in half.

If he had even a moments success against Tyson , you could make an argument for him , but he didn't. He was blitzed in 90 seconds.

There's no case for him beating Tommy who brought the same ferocious, fast and two heavy handed attack.

LOL, so now your suggesting the fight could have been fixed! BS, Foreman tired hard late to win.

Morrison by far the most overrated heavyweight on the forum??? Wow, another bold statement that is not true.

I would pick Spinks to win. Two levels removed from Morrison at least.

It was the other way around. Newman filed a law suit because Dan Duva was holding Morrison back from a fight with Bowe.

Simple mistake. Nothing to worry about.
