Benn was never the smartest of fighters and Watson did a great tuck up and counter job. Lovely countering but Benn's defense and boxing would get better. It still shows Benn would have been badly exposed by the better technicians around and maybe thats why he was kept away from McCallum, Toney, Graham, Nunn, Kalambay How much of a difference do we thick the thumb and consequent lack of vision made?
Watson improved much, much more than Benn ever would. Obviously an eye injury doesn't help a fighter, but Watson was well and truly in the box seat by this stage anyway.
