mick roberts jr, whats the point?

I've watched mick roberts jr box since he was a kid and when he turned professional i was a bit confused because in my eyes he never really had the style for it but after nearly six years as a professional he only did his first 8 rounder on saturday in his 19th yes 19th professional bout :roflatsch

He has boxed 1 guy with a winning record a craig johnson who was 9-4 at the time.:rofl:good

so what is the point really? there are fights for him at scottish area level at both feather and super feather lewis paulin, stephen tiffany are 2 guys who although had less fights would jump at the chance to fight him for the scottish title.

there is also darren traynor from aberdeen, the 2 of them had great bouts as amateurs and would be a great scottish battle that could maybe be done as an eliminator for the british at featherweight.:good

also there is him vs ronnie clark at super feather, i remember a couple of years ago mick roberts snr saying that ronnie needed to bring something to the table well ronnie is now chasing a british title shot and I'm pretty sure he would love the chance to fight mick roberts jr:good

i really don't understand why he turned professional to not want to push for titles? or maybe just like in the amateurs his dad is protecting him from the fights everyone wants to see:rofl

i'll carry on watching, waiting for him to step up but at 29 years old he really needs a meaningful fight soon or he will be regretting it once his career is over:good

 

its harder to match a super flyweight though and at least when he was offered the chance he took a fight for the commonwealth title, he wasn't ready for it but imo he showed ambition, something that mick roberts jr is yet to do:good

mick roberts jr is wasting his time imo and if he isn't ready for the guys i mentioned earlier after 19 bouts then he never will be :good

 

and in 9 months time he will still be fighting them :rofl:rofl

if at 29 he can't tell his daddy that he wants to fight someone that can hit him back then his dad must have some hold over him:rofl:rofl

mick pull your finger out and fight someone like lewis paulin, stephen tiffany, ronnie clark or darren traynor:good

lets see if you can mix it with these guys but i know my money would be on each of them beating you easily:good

 

in regards to jamie wilson i agree that his management need to get him different types of opponents, there is a guy from edinburgh gareth stemp who is trying to get back into the ring after a wee holiday behind bars. he isn't the best but it would be a great wee s**** if they could get gareth a license again, also a bout against scott allan would be decent:good

I've spoke to mick snr and he has never once said that his son won't box ronnie, he has always stated that it would be a hard fight and that his son would win but it would have to have a title or an eliminator to make it worth the risk:good

although the stoppage looked bad against jordy, i was there and imo it looked as much to do with jordy putting so much into the fight that he was exhausted in the last round. got to give ronnie credit for keeping going even when he looked slow and old:good

id like to see ronnie vs mick roberts jr but unless ronnie wins the british then i really don't see it happening:good
