    Ring isn't a sanctioning body. No fees, no stripping, no mandatories.

    I never said a union was all that was needed. I said it would be a good start. You don't think a union itself is plausible, but I disagree because any athlete will do things that are beneficial to them. The only question is what would that something be that brings them to this point. A league may be the only way at the end of the day, though I am not sold on that. But if it is, so be it. If it fixes the sport.

    I think one belt per division will work if the right pieces are in place. Whether or not it is likely to be done is not the same as whether or not it can be done.

    Problem is that fighters are like lemmings they are attracted to shiny things like belts, no matter how useless they are.

    I remember when Diego Corrales was the undisputed lightweight champ, he got challenged on ESPN by Joel Casamayor, Corrales turned him down, telling to make the fight worthwhile Casamayor should get a title, and i say it again Corrales was the recognized lightweight champ and he still wanted to get another belt for his effort...
