I used the search but didn´t find the match-up. Both were welterweight and middleweight champs. Both are atgs. They are two of the strongest fighters at welterweight. What do you think would prevail? Griffith´s boxing or Walker´s pressure? edit: I ****ed up the poll, please only vote once at WW and once at MW.
I'd take Griffith because Walker is still dead. Although w/ Griffith it might be a case of Necrophilia:viking
Emile Griffith vs. Andy Griffith or "Pistol Packin'" Barney Fife vs. "Fudge Packin'" Emile Griffith:viking
TheMorlocks: you are a dick. **** off you homophobic ****. Smile Griffith does not deserve to be called a fudge packer by a dick on a boxing forum. How many fights have you had? Did you fight a series with Rodriguez and fight Monzon twice? Napoles? We can criticise fighter but 'fudge packer'? Grow up.
Sorry. I forgot that your and Griffith's kind have special rights that are supposed to just accepted. I won't hurt your feelings again Nancy.:tdh
I don't think Griff had the level of aggression and temperament necessary to outpoint the more consistent Walker at either weight. Mickey only lost to Greb during his reign at 147, while Griff was officially beaten five times while holding that championship. Emile was blowing his first shot at Paret until Clancy slapped him awake, did blow the title in the second match with Benny, and was nearly knocked out in the sixth round of their tragic rubber match by a Paret already fatally brain damaged by Gene Fullmer. (If Griffith had failed to rise from that knockdown, Benny would have eventually been killed by the after effects of Gene's beatdown anyway.) When Pete Latzo dethroned Walker, Mickey overtrained and came in weakened and underweight, physically incapable of winning, against a rival determined to avenge his beating and failure to lift the title in Walker's first defense (as well as Mickey's three round drubbing and retirement of brother Steve). After eventual Latzo usurper Joe Dundee butted his way to a stoppage win in Walker's first outing as a former champion, Mickey went on a six year tear that was only interrupted by a peaking Loughran, and didn't stop until running into the Schmeling roadblock. Although I think Walker would win at both weights more often than not, I also expect that Griffith would take him the distance in most instances.
Smile Griffith was an iPhone typo sorry if i overreacted, just got backfrom a funeral and personally feel Griffith is a pretty good guy but whilst not gay I am an atheist and believe each to their own; the guy is am ATG and shouldn't be labelled 'fudge packer', although that is an amusing term in jest I must admit.
I'm a practicing Roman Catholic and agree. We, neither atheist nor Catholic, have a self-declared right to judge the worth of a human being. For me, God the Creator reserves that right for himself. We would both agree that anyone who does believe that they may judge the worth of another flirts with nazism, or at least narcissism.
Good post as usual by Duo. Walker was also perhaps the physically strongest of any WW in history and among the physically strongest of the MWs. When he was ready (and sober), he was among the greatest fighters who ever lived. (The Seventh greatest fighter who ever lived by my calculations).
a really good match-up.one of the best, if not the best i've seen here.i can't split them so took the easy way out and went for a win each.griffith at welter ,walker at middle. the only thing i'm positive about is that it would go the distance,12,15 or even 20.:good
