What's interesting is that Mike Mctigue would lose his crown the same year in May to Paul Berlenbach in UD15. Mickey weighed 149 ¾ whereas Mike then reigning Lightheavyweight King weighed at 160 lbs in this bout.

Mickey Walker is undoubtedly a top 5 welterweight All-Time-Great and a top 8 Middleweight all time great.

 

Mickey Walker is on most lists I saw pre 1980 in the top 10 pound for Pound. A great among greats.

 

The film of Mickey's second fight with Ace Hudkins also shows Walker backing up for the entire fight while giving Hudkins a licking.

 

But he keeps on tickin' lolol

 

There is a reason why Walker was rated right along side SRR, Greb, and Ketchel.

 

Some of those combos by Walker are insane.

 

Walker looks like a beast here. Shorter, strong as an ox, physically gifted alongside some great skills. Brilliant left hook. Basically my favourite kind of fighter. Thanks for the footage. Hopefully BHOF decide to release more.

Walker also looks quite adept here at twisting his neck to negate punching damage. No wonder he went up so high.
