does walker wak through these two? i see hagler and him in a alley fight(who wins? i cant call it) while i see joey g keeping a safe distance and schooling walker on the sport of BOXING. so who wins these fights and how and why.?
Very intruiging matches. I think Hagler should win, if he is on top form ,but if the fella that turned up for Antuofermo, and Duran is in the ring, he loses, a decision, by being outhustled. Giardello showed he knew how to beat strong, come forward fighters in Tiger ,and Carter.I like Joey also by dec.But again he must be in top shape which was not a given with him.
I think Giardello was a brilliant boxer but I think Walker was better than Dick Tiger. Walker gave Tommy Loughran a close fight, and Loughran was the pure boxer par excellence. Walker beat his fair share of classy boxers, and some were light-heavy and heavyweights. Walker was a bulldog but he was a very skillful bulldog, very shrewd. Walker-Hagler, I'd probably go for Walker again in a very tough, rugged, gruelling fight. I'd probably rate Walker among the top 5 or 6 middleweights ever.
I reckon both Giardello and Walker are capable of getting the win over one another, Walker closing distance very effectively and throwing heavy, sharp punches in bunches is a big asset for him in that one, whereas the jab of Joey is one of his own, hard for me to say. I'd take Hagler over Walker.
Mickey Walker, whips Joey Giardello, at their best everytime. He licked a Paul Berlenbach a great lightheavyweight puncher who would have ate Giardello up.Marvin Hagler being a southpaw would create a bigger problem, but a sober Toy Bulldog, who destroyed Tommy Milligan in London, would have beaten Hagler IMO...
