I sat down with my middleweight films from Ketchel through Monzon not long ago and Walker impressed me more than anyone, even Robinson, in some ways. He was very quick on his feet, moving back, side to side, or straight ahead with a bob and weave, plus quick with his hands, showing every punch in the book, jab, hook, overhand right, uppercut, in steady combinations. He could fight on the outside or on the inside. He had all the heart in the world.
Pavlik is a good young fighter who at 6' 2" would tower over Walker, but I don't see Walker standing on the outside and allowing himself to eat jabs and long rights. He would be coming in and coming in fast to work Pavlik over inside.
    I have to take Walker.

Ask me again in ten years if Pavlik continues to improve.

At the moment the answer is Walker all the way.

Pavlik might turn out to be an all time great or he might just crash and burn.

I really think that Pavlik has great potential, he has the tools to be a future HOF, but right now we must wait and see, against the fast, tricky and throwing-non stop-punches- Walker, I see a UD for Mickey, 8-4 rounds ca...

I used to like pavlik but am starting to ****ing hate him now, why all these threads about him and all time greats or how pavlik can beat god etc. If he beats some other top guys then he might be a good person to consider but until then he isn't worth comparing.

Well for the new middleweight champ, I thought I match him up with my all time favor middleweight Walker lol.

I saw the Taylor fight, and it was pretty close. But Walker would be brawling. I dont think Pavlik yes he can hit, can relly hurt Walker since Walker has shown time and again what a great chin he truly had, taking hammers from the best heavyweights of the early 30's. I shock no one mentions Walker's chin in regards to all time great chins.

Pavlik needs to tighten his game up if he is to become a solid champion.

He has great perseverance and punching ability, but the bouncy and marauding Walker would only need a few rounds to start taking chunks out of him.

I am curious to see how he looks in his first defense. Toney didn't look like much more than a one-dimensional slugger in the Nunn fight and before; and in no time at all he is winning a chess match versus a formidable and highly inspired Mike McCallum. He improved about 40%.

Barkley's body was animated by Mars the Roman god of war when he destroyed Hearns but during that fight and before he was nothing more than a physically strong and one-dimensional slugger. In his first defense against Duran, he also improved about 40% -his skills were suddenly quite well-rounded (good jab, in and out, angles, body shots...) but he quickly sagged after the tough loss.

Perhaps this loose MW trend will continue with Pavlik -he is at the right age for it...
