Pretty happy with my fight predictions tonight, lol. When I got to the Hilton I was very surprised to see Gonzalez was a 2-to-1 dog. Sadly I did not take a bet.

Hill going down was a bit of a shock, but the man was very winded by the end of round 2. I believe Hill thought Banks would look for a soft spot on the canvas. Hill has a lot of work to be done before he comes back.

Agree. Gonzalez was easily winning that fight.

Yeah...Quadtrine Hill was supposed to be another football player converted into a boxer, but it looks like he didn't even make it as far as Derric Rossy in either sport (he was drafted but barely played in the NFL, right? Rossy at least was a college star...)

That's the only part on the PPV that I totally missed. He got knocked out in the 4th by a 35 year old with a losing record. So it was a stamina issue?

How close were the first couple of rounds in Griffin vs. Proctor? I only caught the second half. Sheridan said the right man won but the scores were too wide.

At the start of the Hill fight I thought he'd get Banks out early, but once Banks chin held up, it was clear Hill was in for a long night. By the end of the first his mouth was already open, and in the second it appeared he was gaping for air. I told my wife, who was also the photog for tonight for me (lol) that Hill was in trouble...

I had Griffin and Proctor a draw. I had them swapping every round, with proctor winning the 1st and 3rd. I don't see how two judges had it 40-36 to be honest.

Were you close enough for your wife to get some good pictures? If so, you should definitely post them up. :good

Also, were you seated near my new crush - the 17-year-old double anthem girl, Mariana Estrada? :love

Apparently, this isn't the first boxing match she's sung at, and she's actually a fan of the sport.

sounds like gonzalez has a great shot at winning the WBC title at featherweight.

full credit to him, taking on a tough challenge with little to gain, while other fighters got put forward for the title shot (hasegawa and burgos).

Gonzalez could easily beat Rojas, IMO. That's the best route for him to go. :good

    Wassup korean gangtah!

My prediction was Penalosa via TKO if i remembered correctly.Daym I'm good. The analysis was:If Gonzales stood and banged with a cocconut head like Penalosa he will get chopped to the body and that was what happened because Gonzales looked fragile starving to that weight. And Gerry can take a punch so I figured, Gonzales was going to do his pitty pat BS (like Juan Ma and De leon did) and Penalosa chipping away at his mid section.Did you know PEnalosa made De leon run in the 11th and 12th round? elmer fudd look alike can take a punch.

    ;)

Hey, yes...she was a wonderful singer. For the first three fights of the card I was sitting right next to where the fighters came out. I'm nearly 100 percent sure i was on tv. I was wearing an orange t-shirt, wife was next to me in purple, for what that's worth.

When I moved seats I moved to balcony seats that were to the right of the stage where the ring were, and these seats were amazing. The way the box was built made it seem like I had like a 120 inch tv in front of me watching the fights.

I wrote a fight write-up for the boxing website I covered it for...I can send you think link if you want...The wife got decent pictures, but nothing amazing. The best ones will be in the write-up...that's not me being a jerk and saying I won't share them here, I just have to see which ones the guy uses first.

Oh, the singer...when I was sitting in the balcony she came up and sat next to me and chatted with someone for a while and posed for pictures...can't believe she's only 17, lol.

Penalosa, even in the twilight of his career, is a very capable h2h force and a bit underrated.

You're spot on about that analysis. Gonzalez has three forms of Kryptonite: someone with quick enough hands and feet to step inside his jab or the hook off the jab and land on him while his left hand is astray (ie Vazquez - who actually used his own jab very effectively in that fight despite giving up height and reach - and Asiku, and Nishioka), or aggressive southpaws who can catch him with that right jab (ie Nishioka and Penalosa) or someone with an iron chin and/or an impenetrable guard and an intense focus on the body (ie Penalosa, and to an extent Asiku).

Elio Rojas presents none of the above. I've been watching some of him and he really is just babysitting the WBC title. He'd have been bruutalized in a unification with Gamboa, and wouldn't have lasted half as long as Salido. He'd also be knocked out cold by Gonzalez, and that would be worth putting money on. When he's the least bit wary of someone's punch he adopts this very ugly jab-and-grab style. He's more guilty of what people accuse Wladimir Klitschko of doing than Klitschko is himself! It's an awful style to watch and one that would be suicide against either Gamboa or Gonzalez, for different reasons. Gamboa would just bunny-hop out of the way and pepper him with counters when he tried to grab. Gonzalez would let him, but good luck holding Jhonny Gonzalez in a clinch (as Asiku found out, the hard way). I really don't think Rojas is any stronger physically than Asiku, so Gonzalez would have a pretty easy time peeling his arms off and pushing him away into range for that devastating hook. How many of those Rojas can take is dependent entirely on the quality of his chin (still an unknown variable) but there are few featherweights I can see standing up to too many of them.

Cool! Yeah, point out the article to me.

When did you switch seats? I'm going to re-watch at least the co-featured bouts tomorrow (Roman-Harris and Gonzalez-Asiku) so maybe I'll spot you and your lady. :yep

Dude, Miss Estrada's rack is going to be unreal when she hits her twenties. There's nothing like a thick firme hina.

LOL, funny, I went up right before the Roman-Harris fight...if you watch Hill or the other fight you'd probably see me. I was right there when they come down the "aisle" I was on the last seat, probably writing something in a notebook. I remember looking right at Hill's face to try to gauge if he was scared or anything, so...I'm the dude in the orangeish shirt, starting at Hill, lol. At that point I didn't realize the camera was on me, haha. Again, it may have missed me, depending on the shot.
