would have been the best route, but hasegawa and burgos have got the shot.

i wonder if jhonny will wait these guys out or perhaps go a different route.

so much going on at featherweight and i forgot all about escalante-DPDL winner to face juanma-rafa winner. and of course caballero is still out there...

    That's really a damn shame.

The only one of the three I'd give Rojas a chance to beat is JC Burgos, by way of hideous decision (like halfway between bag-over-the-head and Quasimodo-locked-in-the-belltower). Hozumi and Jhonny both knock that little twerp flat. I'd probably even take Asiku to beat Rojas on a good night.

The WBC still has Gonzalez ranked #3 behind Hasegawa and Burgos, and Rojas as champ (those ratings may not be totally up-to-date but it's very unlikely that beating Asiku would push Jhonny up, seeing as WBC has Asiku ranked #40 in the world). Hanging around for the last man standing in that scene is definitely the smart way to go.

    Imagine Hasegawa-Gonzalez? Bliss.

Another good option for Jhonny to stay busy would be the likes of Bernabe Concepcion or Billy Dib. Both have built-in fanbases so Gonzalez could earn a nice paycheck on the road, and both would IMO be easy knockouts for him so he wouldn't even have to worry about home cooking.

jhonny v hasegawa - that would be awesome. it would probably be better at featherweight than bantam or super bantam, because they'll both be fuller, stronger and less drained...i hope it comes to this fight.

Agreed 100%. My only regret about them not being able to make bantamweight and super bantamweight anymore is that on a different night I feel each would have stood a very good chance of avenging their respective losses to Montiel and Nishioka.

As long as they are healthy and able to accomplish big things at featherweight, it's all good.

I just watched this entire fight again, btw - and like a vintage wine it just gets better. Those first three rounds were fiercely competitive and both guys showed some very smooth skill boxing behind their jabs and mixing in body work. Asiku has nothing to be ashamed of; he left it all in the ring. There was some running but it was minimal and mostly a tactical thing to clear his head immediately after the knockdowns. Once the cobwebs were clear, he was right back in the pocket trading with a notorious monster. Hopefully people who haven't seen it do not look at the result and deduce that Jackson has a poor chin - he showed amazing resiliency in getting up from some of those nukes. Jhonny is one of the premiere hookers in the business today (and his right cross ain't bad either).
