Middle vs heavy match up of the week. Johnson vs Greb

I've always said that Jack beats most people smaller than him, and i'm going to stand by that. I think the naturally larger Johnson wears the great Greb down with his uppercuts on the inside. While Greb was the greatest fighter of all time for me, Jack was too big for him. He had an awesome chin apparently, so I would say he lasts the distance. I also dont think he knocks a prime Johnson out.

Wasnt Johnson seriously hungover against O'Brian? Tht was surely a factor in his perfomance. But you are right on one thing, Johnson doesnt stop Greb.

Johnson did lose to a few smaller men, but not very often. McVea, Langford, Jeanette, Ketchell and old Fitzsimmons. These were all fine boxers.

I have no doubt Greb's speed gives hi problems. But i think he spoils a lot, keeps it up close, and outworks his man on the inside.

 

Johnson has good form against Ketchel and Langford in this bracket. Greb said Tunney at 185lbs was now too big for him and Johnson was 210lbs at his best, more than 40lbs heavier than Greb. Johnson was also great at using his size to bully smaller men, leaning on them, twisting their arms and using his powerful uppercut. Without seeing Greb who knows but the smart money is on JJ

The version of Johnson that beat Langford was 185. Who worth a **** did he ever beat at 210? That pathetic shell of fighter Jeffries? I still contend the provably best version of Johnson is at 185-190.

That said, would someone analyze the role that pinching will assume in this fight?

 

ONE, Choynski and there was little between them for weight, unlike when Jeffries could only draw with Choynski ,despite a huge 63lbs weight advantage. More do NOT lean toward O Brien , produce them .

I wonder how Greb would do against the 156lbs, 23 years old, 51 fight Langford that Johnson knocked down twice,once for a long 9 count ,breaking his nose ,and cutting his eye ?

Johnson battered the **** out of Burns, flooring him three times, he dropped Langford twice, and brutalised him.


He played with Ketchel picking him up when he hurt him inadvertantly, sending him into dream- land when he got ambitious.

All three of these victims hit a ton harder than Harry.

All three of them would be a hard night's work for Harry.

If you take the very best version of johnson (the version that battered jeffries) and pit him against the best version of greb (the version that beat tunney in the first, imho) and you have absolutely got to favour johnson to prevail.
