I love Dick Tiger but I can’t see him beating BHOP. He didn't have the power to KO BHOP and no way is he outpointing him. BHOP holds every advantage over Tiger with size and speed being the two biggest. As much as I like Tiger, he is Taylor made for Bernard. 12 UD for the Executioner.

 

Agreed. No way is Hopkins going to brawl or stay in front of him for long. He's also going to vary his attacks and not let him gain much rhythm or momentum. He'll have to work all night tho.

I think Hopkins wins a decision but Tiger's pressure will make it hard. Tiger is a lot more dangerous at 160 than Tito. Anyone who thinks its an easy night for Hopkins is kidding themselves.

 

Tiger absolutely has the power to KO Hopkins. Which is why Hopkins will box him and be content with piling up the points, especially given Tiger's rather plodding footwork. Hopkins decision and it will probably be wide.

The classic conundrum: Who wins in a fight — a Tiger or an Alien.

I’ll go with the otherworldly one here. He’s too strong and good inside for Tiger and too crafty on the outside. Hopkins turns it into an ugly affair, as he so often did, and generally mauls the smaller man while methodically beating him up.

Whilst I agree that Hopkins would beat Tiger, and prob by decision, not entirely on board with him being to " strong " on the inside, for me Tiger looked and was a strong fighter, solid deep chest, fairly big guns, fighters like Fullmer who was noted for his strength, elected to box Tiger rather than stay close and fight/maul, as was his usual style, moreover big strong MWs like Carter did not press up and stay close to him, so although I am not keen Hopkins fan, and would rather not watch his fights, I feel he would be the backing off before Tiger does, maybe I am doing him a misjustice threw lack of vision, would be interested in your take on my musings.

You might be right — ‘strong’ probably wasn’t the proper word. I see him spoiling and mauling Tiger on the inside more than pushing/shoving him around. However displeasing to the eye his style might be to some, the Alien understood leverage and how to turn things into a slog where he ends up with the ugly advantage.

Gene Fullmer was more of a rugged type than a lean and bump and grab and turn and drape all over guy, which is more what Hopkins would do (while working in some punches of course, but wearing a guy down physically and mentally with that style. I’m probably one of the few guys who liked to watch Gianfranco Rosi and B-Hop was able to do those kind of things better and more purposefully than Franco imo.

So while I do see Hopkins nullifying and frustrating Tiger on the inside and having the advantage, probably not in a pure strongman way as much as a crafty spoiler way. And on the outside he would definitely do better as he was more diverse than Tiger, whom I think of (perhaps I’m underestimating him) as a fairly simple, a bit robotic guy.

Does that make more sense? Fair to disagree of course.
