LOL everybody looks at this matchup and walks away. I was gonna too :D

Honestly its a pickem fight. Hopkins often did well against guys because he was the smarter fighter. In this case he is not. Moreover McCallum is not one of the come forward aggro types that Hopkins feasted on.

On the other hand Hopkins has the pedigree and if McCallum was that good he'd have all the title defences.

You could make a case for either fighter winning.

I would lean towards Mike. I believe he has a more polished and versatile skill set

I always say that i have no idea on these type of matchups, but, now 100% telling the truth, i have NO idea who would win this one :D

Im going to pick Mike by decision only because i think his highest peak was higher than the peak of Hopkins.

The question is who will be enforcing their game, McCallum with his steady, scientific pressure, a bit more aggressive, and of course aimed toward the body often, or Bernard with his patient, spoiler-type negative fighting punctuated by concise offense. Physically, Bernard was a bit more robust, taller, strong. Reach was similar. Will was roughly equal.

In the end, prime McCallum was a more dynamic fighter while still presenting a highly educated, scientific approach. I think he edges the encounters and gets his mode of fighting into play more often than Hopkins. I think he eeks out the decision here.

Voted McCallum by decision. Simply because I find him a more fun fighter to watch. Still think it is 50-50.

I voted for Hopkins because i think he is the better fighter and that is not a slight on McCallum who is one of my favourite boxers

McCallum has advantages in workrate which no one talks about except for Chris Eubank who called his jab a machine gun. McCallum has overall defensive skill, combination throwing, bodypunching and overall arsenal. Hopkins is also immensely skilled, I just don't think he's quite as skilled.

McCallum 8-4 or 7-5 with a great display of skill from both men

    Hi Buddy.
On board with you, I too, am not that enamoured with Hopkins style of fighting, and therefore would " like " MM to win, whether he would , not so sure, it is most certainly a fight for the purist, not sure it would appeal to me on some levels, but would probably watch anyway.

The only thing that could really trouble Mike would be if Hopkins moved a lot.
Hopkins does not have the varied attack that Mike has nor the combination punching like Mile did but Hopkins had very good lateral movement that could trouble Mike.

I see Hopkins winning this one by clear unanimous decision, in a competitive fight.

Bernard would slow the pace down and reduce Mike's output. If McCallum wants to get on the inside, he is going to find a much underrated uppercut and rough handling coming his way.
