2 of the best Middleweights drawn together in only the second round. But who gets it?

    No reason, No Vote

I rate Walker very highly ,but Hagler is one of the top4 middles of alltime.
Hagler takes a close decision ,in an all action melee with Walker pressing him all the way and hurting him several times to the body.Hagler's better boxing makes the difference.

I can see the commentator now, just like in the Hagler-Hearns bout- 'and it's Hagler, full of blood', that's how i see it, Hagler to win a war, full of blood.

yeah hagler would take shots but i don't think walker is keeping him down .. haglers switch hitting style would pose huge style problems for walker as well ..

maybe would end up being like hagler vs briscoe in some rough and tumble kind of brawl

I like Walker, dont think it would be as short as Hagler Hearns.

I like Walker on points in a war.

Just from what Ive seen Hagler had more dimensions to his game and smart tactical performance should see him grind it out to a decision.

But Mickey is a tough and strong as they come...this is going the 15 and it wont be pleasant for Marvin.

This is a verry verry hard fight for me to call.

It is obviously going to be a war and neither man is short on dimensions.

    I pick Walker because:

    A. He proved his power against top heavyweights.

    B. He proved his chin against top heavyweights.

    C. He proved he could hold ring centre with top heavyweights.

This suggests, if only suggests, that Hagler might break first.

From the small amount of Walker footage I've seen Hagler looks to be a better boxer, better technique and faster. That was mainly against a Schmelling, who is a bigger fighter, watching it I'd expect Hagler to perform better in the same situation.

I think Walker has the versatility edge here, and off the films is much faster afoot. I don't see this as a toe to toe slugfest, but Walker moving about to get angles and then flurrying. Hagler's so so performances against Anterofermo and Duran leave room for doubts. I edge toward Walker but my money stays in my pocket.

Hagler never fough a world class ligh heavyweight.

How do you know that Schmeling wouldn't just steamroll him in the first round?

Certainly to say that Hagler would have done better against Schmeling is a huge leap of faith.

Agree. Although I think it would take someone like Bob Foster to stop Hagler, even at LHW.

So you're not basing it not on boxing skill but how his power and chin held up at LHW-HW? Would you pick MW versions of Moore/Charles/Jones/Greb/Conn over Hagler based on their LHW/HW achievements too?

Haglers chin could be the best in MW history and Walker at LHW is surely a different fighter, regardless I don't see Walker as the biggest puncher Hagler has faced regardless

Technically Hearns would be a World Class LHW after Hagler beat him

Hagler just looks better on film to me, its not the deepest analysis because I havent seen that much of him but if a Prime 4 Prime fight was anounced tommorow, I'd put money on the Marvelous 1

I think Hagler would last about as long as Walker in fact, perhaps even a bit longer based upon his boxing ability, but as you point out this is speculation.

I still pick Hagler for his adaptability. If he needs a breather he can take one. As against Greb, Walker is basically only finding one way to win and that 100% commitment will cost him with Hagler winning close but clear.

i think hagler grinds out a decision win, both get stunned along the way in a war and the decision will be disputed
