First up, Ruben "Hurricane"Carter wasted little time. coming out and disposing of James Shuler,by landing blistering combinations. Shuler had no answer for the onslaught & was rescued by the referee in the fourth. An action packed affair had local hero John Duddy going toe to toe with Fletcher, bringing the crowd to thier feet on numerous occasions. But in the seconsd half of the fight "The Animal" threw too many barrages. & the game Duddy could not come out for the ninth round. The main event had Jake LaMotts nose to nose with "Bad"Bennie Briscoe. tough fight all the way, neither taking a backwards step. LaMotta's experience & aggressiveness won out the match in a fairly close decision. With victories:LaMotta, Carter & Fletcher advance to the Semi rounds of thier groups, which will be 12 round fights.
