Ditto with me. He's a name I see and hear stories about but I have never delved in with any depth. Great stuff on this film.
Unfortunately the Zurita film has been removed from YouTube. I can't find it anywhere. You'll only see the clips of it in the highlight. The small Montana bout is still up, though.
He was a Cutie Pie ,and no mistake ,Matt McGrain our esteemed moderator is a big fan,and why ever wouldn't you be?
You (roughdiamond) really need to buy the book "The Terror of Terra Haute" about the great Bud Taylor and boxing in the 20's. He fpught Canzonari McLarnin Villa & Moore. A true great. And great knowledge and insight a well written book can give you.
Ohhh I think I gotta get this. I saw a nice photo of Jofre, Taylor and SRR from 1960 the other day in an LA times archive.
He was a " mountain man " and often secluded himself and trained in the mountains. He was known to go MIA a lot and subject himself to that harsh environment. No wonder is was so damn tough !!
