Dont know much bout the business and matchmaking side of MMA but is it possible to have fights from one company fight another? Is it possible to unify those titles? For example could you see Overeem fight Brock Lesnar for the strikeforce and UFC heavyweight titles or it doesnt work like that? Kind of like co-promotion i guess......
yes you can have co promotion, dream and strikeforce do a lot of co promotion but the UFC doesn't do co promotion has a no co promotion policy so you wouldn't ever see lesnar fight overeem, unless overeem signed with the ufc.
so the UFC is the only one that doenst co promote? All the others do? Why doesnt the UFC co promote that would be great......
There big enough to not need it anymore...They used to with Pride. Then when they bought pride out they did a few unification fights with guys like Nog and Henderson.
ufc is big enough they don't need to, they have a monopoly over mma and pretty much put it on the map, why would they let some other company come in and take half the profit when the ufc basically built mma from the ground up? but yes, it sucks
Nop. When Pride fc existed , the only time they gave it a try was with Liddell...in 2003 Only because Dana had a bet. (he predicted that Liddell was going to win the grand prix)... And that was it... Then there was a rumor about Kharitonov fighting Sylvia but it was just bull****... It's only when pride had to file for bankruptcy that matchups between ex-pride fc fighters vs ufc fighters started to happen. But pride did a co-promotion in 2002 with K1 though. (which was spectacular) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSIFVaYKi3A[/ame]
Oh yeah...you're right... Still , it was very rare... PS: I personally thought it was a draw...But that's another issue.
yea Liddell went over for a few fights plus wand came over to fight Tito Minowa did aswell It happened a few times...not saying they did it a lot mind.
I think the UFC wants to be to MMA what the NBA is to basketball. Like the number 1 recognized league, with all other leagues just where the fighters go when they are not good enough to make it to the #1 league. Its a smart concept, and its good for the sport, but to make it work he will have to pay the fighters what they are worth.
Ahhhhhhh yes one of the greatest MMA event specticules of all time. In terms of a show, wow you'll never see something on this scale in the US, ever.
Cuz dana white is a *****. Fedor could have fought in the ufc already if dana allowed him to sign a one fight contract.
