Might Kessler already be past it?

Well, he is only 31. Not that old for a boxer in a higher division, but athletes age differently. Might all the inactivity have taken something out of him? He looked slow and not very powerful out there. Was it just an off-night vs a good fighter or is it really seriously downhill form here?

Bit of both IMO. He was always one dimensional but still hard 2 beat.
I don't think the inactivity helped. Pre Calzaghe he fought more often & higher quality.
And because he's quite muscular & robotic I always thought he'd age badly.

Without the buts we would perhaps have known now. Like many others have said, it is pretty impossible to judge a fighter who got a severe concussion in round 2 and fought on with it. Future fights will tell us.

Good point. Ward could get KO'd in his next fight & Kessler could KO everyone else. Unlikely but lets see what happens in future
