I saw a show on eurosport about some of the top names in K-1. It showed some of their greatest fights. guys like Aerts and Le banner has been in the sport for close to 18 years. They must have made good money during that time. Then I saw Mighty Mo. The man is pretty simple, but hits like a truck, can he land, he can beat anyone. That kind of fighter is popular. WHat do you think, a guy like him has made over the years?
You're talking about "The Battle"? Pretty good show. Le Banner was probably the best paid K-1 fighter, even though he never won he GP. He was at his top when K-1 was huge. Basically he doesn't need to fight anymore, he has enough money. Sefo made good money too. Mo probably made good money back in the days when he won the Vegas GP. He was extremely dangerous with his well timed overhand right and had the heaviest punch I have ever seen. He has a lot of kids and needs to feed them. He's still around trying to make some money in Eastern Europe ... but he seems a bit delusional; he's pretty much done ... although he believes he still has to reach his peak. His results tell the story.
I think Reem got 500k for winning the last K1 GP. I miss the GP! The format, the fighters, the action was always first class.
Masato is one of the highest paid fighters as well, being as he essentially was K-1 MAX. I remember Remy Bonjesky saying that he is paid on the same level as a mid level football(soccer) player in the highest leagues. I know Ray Sefo(Who was popular due to his charasmatics looks and knockout power) made millions but essentially squandered it. EDIT: As far as Mo, Im not sure but his past few fights hes been showing up just to get KO'd and get a paycheck...
Never was a fan of Mighty Mo, thought he was a poor mans Mark Hunt. He had a pretty good run in 2004, until he met Kaoklai, which may be one of the best knockouts in K-1.
The K-1 GP win is 400.000 dollars - it has been that way for some time now. Of course you have to pay taxes, so you lose a part of it. But as someone said, I don't think he hasn't been paid yet. Same goes for other fighters.
