That knockdown in the 5th round was incredible! Set up that right hand perfectly, right on the chin. Mikey was really loading up with right hands and he finally caught Jessie and had him in trouble.

This was no picnic for Mikey Garcia though and he would have a tough time beating any of the top welterweights but Mikey proved that he can punch at welterweight and to knock down Vargas like that shows that he's dangerous. The other thing is that Mikey has one hell of a chin, he took some big shots from Vargas and they didn't seem tp phase him at all. Like that big shot from Vargas right at the final bell, he just ate it like it was nothing.

It won't be easy for any of the top welterweights to put Mikey down, but he definitely can be out volumed as was shown in the loss to Spence. But that was also a near perfect performance by Spence and I doubt any of the other welterweights can dominate Mikey to that extent.

This was a entertaining match tonight, Vargas really impressed me early on, he set the pace and put it on Mikey and Mikey had to make something happen. That big right hand in the 3rd round by Mikey really got Jessie's attention, and that sort of led to what happened in the 5th round.

It sounds like Mikey will be fighting Pacquiao next. Mikey might be catching Pac-Man at the right time coming off that win over Thurman and Pacquiao possibly not performing as well as he did vs Thurman, so maybe that gives Mikey a chance. While I think you'd have to expect Manny to out volume Mikey, I just wonder if Mikey can catch Pacquiao with one of those well-timed right hands like he did with Vargas if he really loads up on shots trying to time Manny. But to do that he'd have to give away rounds being patient with Manny going in-and-out with Mikey standing his ground and trying to time him with jabs and straights when Manny gets in range.

You are pathetic dude. And you can't score a fight if your life depended on it.

Pac by decision is more likely. Not saying a KO is impossible but Mikey has a hell of a chin and isn't easy to put down.

What tantrum dip****? I don't like Chocolatito, but I also don't like Yafai. I couldn't care less. Vargas got jobbed. Yet you like all of the other intellectually dishonest creeps hide behind the, but.. but... but... the official scorecards say otherwise excuse. Then you have the audacity to turn around and act like that was some demonstrative performance and that he'd easily beat the guy that just won handily over Keith Thurman and unlike Garcia didn't lose a round against Vargas when they fought. Yeah, I know, styles make fights, well sorry. Mikey is no Juan Manuel Marquez.

Thing is... Pac is arguably the biggest puncher at welterweight. Pac will hurt Mikey and Mikey won't have the size advantage to carry him through.

Nah, I'll undelete that post. You can't score worth a damn, even IB who was giving Mikey every benefit of the doubt had him eking it due to a ****ing knockdown, and here your biased ass has it 8-4 Mikey... really? On what planet does outworking your opponent consistently not count anymore? Yes, Mikey landed several one twos, but he only dropped him with one straight right. two or three straight rights that land per round don't erase, 20 or 30 landed shots per round from Vargas.

That’s pretty much what I described happening about a year ago. PACs leg speed is not what it used to be, so he overextends now too often for a guy with mikeys timing. Mikey will catch him coming in and hurt him, or at least counter him to a points win.
I think Mikey beats pac and Danny, loses to Spence and Crawford, and goes to the wire with Thurman and porter, probably losing to both.

Alright, fair enough...just can't wrap my head around not digging his style. Are you not into Argüello/Buitrago either?

PAC fought a trash fight against Horn but sure I thought he won. The Vargas fight wasn’t close. Everyone lands some on PAC but he landed a lot more on Vargas. It was an easy fight, saying you think Vargas won is a joke.

I'm intrigued as to what would happen if Mikey fought Pacqiuao. Could see it going either way. Depends what version of Manny shows up and if Mikey can be even better than he was tonight. Mikey seems to think that he'll only get better the longer he stays at 147. And he might be right. Looking sluggish vs Spence could have been due to putting on weight too quick and losing some of his speed. He seemed more crisp tonight and really was able to have the energy to load up on shots and not get fatigued down the stretch like Vargas was. Even though Vargas came back in rounds 11 and 12, he was visibly fatigued where Mikey looked fresh - Mikey isn't a volume puncher so him giving away those late rounds doesn't mean he was fatigued just means he was being cautious just like he was in the early rounds.

A lot of fans on here won't give Mikey much of a chance vs any of the top welterweights after what happened vs Spence but I don't think you can count him out vs any of these guys. He might get out volumed and lose a decision but I am not convinced any of these guys can stop him. And personally I think Mikey could give Bud Crawford a lot of problems. I think because of the dynamics that would go into that match. I think Bud would overlook him and not take him seriously and would end up in a dogfight with Mikey.

No, not a huge fan, but I prefer Arguello by a mile to Gonzalez, because at least he fought with passion. Buitrago, meh, no... not a fan.

Levels. You watch Mikey vs Broner and Pac vs Broner - pac had Broner hurt and Broner running for his life. Meanwhile, Broner was putting it on Mikey. Then Mikey vs Vargas goes down the wire, Pac dominated Vargas. It was a very clear cut win with a knockdown and Pac had 0 respect for Vargas power.

Pac probably stops Mikey due to Mikey being an open target and the fact that he squares up, and his smaller size. Mikey really isn't the hardest to hit, his defense is very basic, he let Spence unload on him.

Exactly, everyone lands right hands on Pac, his commitment to land his left leaves him open for the right. He had no respect for Vargas power and was in ZERO danger of losing that fight.
