This is - but shouldn't be* - the main event on the DAZN card on Saturday the 16th.

*merely a ten-rounder, with a world title bout subordinate to it (Elwin Soto Castro's fourth defense of the WBO light flyweight championship versus Jonathan González Ortíz). At least they haven't arbitrarily scheduled it for twelve rounds despite being for no hardware nor an eliminator, as is often part of the ghastly excesses of "star treatment". Small blessings.

García would now be a few months away from hitting two full years of inactivity, so he is currently unranked. Martín is presently in three different major org's top 15 (WBO #12, WBC #8 and WBA #7), meaning a victory over him is a direct instant path back to contention for the 4 division champion.

When you mention Soto vs Gonzalez, IB what are your thoughts on the fight? Can Gonzalez finally win a major title?

    Whoa...wtf?? :dunno

Of all the things for my stupid "smartphone" to auto-correct Martín to (without me noticing in my haste ), how the hell did it get Mike?

You'd think it would change it to Martínez, if anything. (which is exactly what happened when filling in the poll, and hitting ctrl+v to paste the name Martín from my clipboard ...weird thing is that I'd copied it from my Tweet and pasted it into the thread title about 10 seconds before adding the poll options, so why did it autocorrect to two different things?)

I had a feeling it was an epic autocorrect typo. Never try to voice dictate a thread title, the results are usually disastrous. I mean, I'm pretty articulate... but a few weeks back when I was doing the Kerman Lejarraga thread title, when I said it into my phone, with fingers crossed, it came out as "Determinedly Hiraga.":risas3:

Idk, tbh... La Bomba went life and death with Saúl "Baby" Juárez just last year and then also had some difficulty with journeyman Armando Torres before stopping "The Scorpion" in the fourth on a combination of headbutt/elbow and some cheap shots while Torres was recovering from the fouls (which opened a cut). He certainly isn't shot to bits or a functional geriatric at 30 in the way flyweights sometimes can be; he can still move pretty well, and is still a dangerous southpaw with skill and power to make him a serious contender - but when you factor in the loss to Kōsei Tanaka in 2019 precipitating both of those ugly wins, he might be too diminished from his prime form (which itself may not have been enough) to not get steamrolled by the current version of 24 year old El Pulga that got that dodgy stoppage over brave Katsunari Takayama but showed good power and work rate.

Not the fight that I wanted to see with Mikey but I will take it. Mikey is a special fighter and one of my favorite dudes to watch from a technical aspect. No matter the opponent, I will always tune in when he is fighting.

On talent and resume Sandor Martin has no chance. However, Garcia is almost 34 years old and has only fought once in two and a half years so you never know. In boxing, you sometimes hear that a fighter got old overnight. In Garcia's case that could have been anytime in the 541 nights since his last fight. I'm going with Garcia by decision and hoping overnight hasn't happened yet

Personally, I think it's an enjoyable, educational, idiosyncratic trait which hurts no one.
