Art Hovhannisyan by ko,i think the guy has very good skills and the winner should face broner when he moves up to 135,if broner beats escobedo.
If Acosta somehow ekes out a win, I don't think he should go anywhere near Broner tbh. He should call it a career on the high note, probably his last chance to unless he goes on a retirement tour against tomato cans in Venezuela.
Acosta was spectacular against Rios in early rounds. I mean for a moment I thought he might be one of the best boxer in the whole game. His timing and moving was so brillant and his way to put those punches together was amazing. At the end of the day(like Vic ortiz would say) Rios was too strong and determined and he was able to turn the fight around. And it was a great fight: Acosta was so amazing in early rounds but the way how less skilled fighter was able to turn the fight around with a strong will just tells us what boxing is all about. Kinda sad that Acosta was so poor against Abril cause like I said: For a moment I really thought that he is one of the best fighter in whole game. For me he was almost perfect for 4-5 rounds against Rios and I was impressed, very impressed.
He seems to have had a very short prime; it's a damn shame the Paulus Moses and Urbano Antillon fights weren't on American television so more of it could be seen by a wider audience. (the Antillon one was on an overpriced Top Rank PPV that very few people bought)
I don't know, I'm still thinking Acosta is going to win this fight with a pretty wide decision. I know he looked like **** against Abril (who doesn't?) but maybe it really was an off night against a weird opponent? I really like Acosta and am not too impressed with Hovha, so I think he'll take this still.
Nah, I'm thinking not. I was very high on Acosta, too - even after the Rios loss (in fact it raised his stock, IMO) - but that wasn't just "looking bad against someone tricky". There were red flags that had absolutely nothing to do with anything Abril did. The complete lack of balance, the poor resistance to any form of physical contact, the way he threw his own shots with none of the technique he'd shown prior...it'd be one thing if it was just Abril leaning over and slipping his shots and landing crisp counters to score knockdowns or something like that. It wasn't. It was Acosta whiffing without even coming close, would've been missing even if Abril was standing pat, and Acosta falling down hard to the canvas every time they bumped into each other or he took a hit to the elbow or a thumbing behind the ear.
Agree, The Abril fight was sad to watch. Heart says Acosta, Brain says a prospect I am very low on, Art Hovhannisyan.
