Damn sportsbooks, not publishing odds until the day of. That's not exactly a lot of time to get a vBookie event up.
Yeah they're always slow as hell with Boxing for some reason, the odds weren't there earlier but are now and only Bet365 has odds for the fight. Really tempted to go big on Art with the bookies having Acosta favourite but I dunno if I can bring myself to bet against Acosta. :huh
Props to the two people who picked this one correctly. I was sure it would be a cut and dry case of either Hov's power getting to the legless Venezuelan, or Acosta playing it safe and pot shotting to the final bell with jabs. It was a little of both, but led to neither a Hov KO or an Acosta points victory as expected. :yep Conclusions: Acosta had enough left to avoid getting KTFO (although there was an early scare) and to take over late with some movement and clean boxing, although nothing like what he used to do. Acosta didn't have enough left overall to clearly beat a guy on Hovhannisyan's level (I had it a draw). All we thought we knew about Hovhannisyan is confirmed - decent power, but not very good overall. Miniature Abraham minute the high turtle shell. (or more like a combination of his two countrymen, Abraham and Darchinyan...with their power but also the worst qualities of each) He would be absolutely schooled by Richard Abril with like a 5% connect percentage, and probably be on the losing end of a slugfest with Rios. Acosta should retire.
Man, 6/5...:-( Granted, I called it wrong in my analysis and thought the win would come by KO...but the win still came, and so would have the cash windfall..
I also had it 95 to 93 Acosta. That right hand Acosta got up from was a killer. Very surprised how he boxed after that.
