Neither will fight Golovkin and I doubt the WBC will strip anyone.

Cotto is clearly a more skilled fighter than Geale but 'elite' is a stretch, especially at this stage in Cotto's career. I felt that Geale's ability to throw a high volume of punches while walking through Cotto's would give him a solid chance of a decision, and I was not expecting Cotto's punches to be as effective as they were. That could be attributed to the weight loss and the fact that Cotto probably weighed only 5-10lb less than Geale in the ring. Also notable was Geale's lack of punch volume. That could be attributed to getting hit a lot, but he did seem notably flat.

Still, he never got control of Cotto's jab and was getting lit up by it. Of course, that could be attributed to slowed reflexes due to the weight loss.

I didn't think the weight would be a big deal at all, but watching it my impression was that Geale was flat AND less-skilled than Cotto. If he had all his energy/reflexes/punch resistance, maybe he could have done something.

Cotto was clearly the better fighter, but I suspect that, as usual, he was also the healthier fighter.

I just watched the fight, it wasn't the mismatch/masterclass it's been painted as. Cotto still has a lot of pointless movement, is stiff and too left hand dominant. He was never 'playing' with Geale, it was a fairly even fight until Geale blatantly quit. The last knockdown was just a flop so Geale could quit, he wasn't hurt.

I wanted so badly in the past for GGG to crush Cotto but now I don't as I have a heart:smooch

Cotto best ride this new wave out and stash some cash and just avoid GGG:deal

At this point I think Cotto is doing well but Canelo and GGG are waiting for him to make the mistake of signing a contract:!:
