Bob Arum agreed with Steward's assessment, although a little more vehemently. "I think Mayweather will never ever EVER go into the ring with Miguel Cotto. Ever. EVER." Couldn't HBO force Floyd to fight Cotto? "No. No! Nobody can force him to do it. He won't do it.."

Consider if you will, that those are two insiders, who know the inner workings of boxing's most powerful television network. If they say Mayweather will continue to duck Miguel Cotto (well, in their own diplomatic words at least) then it must be true. We may never see Floyd vs. Cotto - the fight absolutely everyone wants to watch, with the exception of Floyd Mayweather. This is a shame on the overall sport of boxing and it's marketers, promoters, and decision-makers.

And just what does Miguel Cotto think of the handpicking, sidestepping and excuse-making antics of Mayweather? "That's the thing he does for his entire career. He run from the really good boxer kind, he choose the others. I don't know how the people who know about boxing put him in the first place in the pound-for-pound champion."

If Floyd lands like Zab landed in the 1st round than Floyd finishes Cotto...I'd put money on Floyd if I were betting my money too!

See, I really wan't to disagree with this, but I don't think I can because everything here sounds about right. All I would say is that you mention Cotto's weaknesses, but not his strengths. Floyd hated it when an elderly ODLH worked the body, just imagine how uncomfortable Cotto is going to make it. I was surprised by how easy ODLH got FMJ on the ropes, and how effective he was when they got there. I think Mayweather may well be reacting to the aggression of Cotto all night long, which would take him out of his game, I don't FMJ has the power to stop Cotto, and I don't think Floyd is unbeatable. Cotto might break him down with money in the bank shots, on the way to a decision, or maybe a late TKO.

No offense but I stopped reading when I saw the author of the article. In case you didn't know it was written by Scoop Malinowski a known Margo nuthugger and a extreme PBF hater the guy has no credibility and can't be taken serious for real debate.

Too bad well never see that happen though,Floyd dont want it,I at least hope Floyd mans up and fights a guy in his own weight class...At the end of the day Cotto would weaken Floyd with body and head shots..

10 years from know well be saying I wish Floyd wouldve stepped to the plate he couldve won etc.. that wouldve been a good fight..

The problem with this is Steward he's another bitter PBF hater he along with Merchant have no credibility when discussing PBF objectively. It has been well documented they both constantly take shots at PBF during his fights.:deal

It helps when you're utterly exhausted from landing a bucket load of punches on that slow WW while trying to avoid a record amount of punches each round, and the toll the few punches that do land in the early round take.

Fair post!:good I think Cotto's jab will be his biggest asset in this fight but only if he fights smart with it. With that said I think PBF will take away Cotto's body attack much like Mosley did against him along with Margo. PBF took away Hatton's body attack being the defensive genius he is by beating him at his own game being even more rough and a better inside fighter than Hatton was. PBF could do the same with Cotto IMO. Also PBF went to the ropes against Oscar because it was part of his strategy he knew a shoe-shiner like Oscar would get flurry happy and he wasn't really landing anything of note and he was trying to let Oscar punch himself out so he would fade the down the stretch not only that PBF unlike most other fighters is at home against the ropes and does some of his best work there he did it against Oscar with a beautiful counter that buckled Oscar's knees. I don't see PBF going against the ropes with Cotto as a problem we agree to disagree on that one.

Mayweather would outbox Cotto and win a 12 round fight, something like 8 rounds to 4, Mayweather is a little too fast for Cotto.

Well lets be honest though Jim Lampley Steward, and even Larry Merchant has praised Floyds skills.. Larry has called him a "Master in his Craft" I can go on but I dont want to bore you... Its only when they criticize him that Floyd and his fans points that out..

Its like they did Roy Jones, they praised his skills but questioned his opponents, flaws etc for the most part they do that with all fighters even Cotto.. At the end of the day Floyd dont want it,I think if FLoyd beats Cotto or Vice Versa that will propel them both to a new level..

Floyd wins, this silences his critics, being able to beat a hard puncher, with boxing skills.. If Cotto wins it will show his critics that he can beat crafty, skillfull fast, superior boxers it will be a true test for both of them this is why I want to see this fight happen...

All Im saying is Cotto gets hit way to much to beat PBF, preety east to see. you can talk about this and that but the facts are that Mayweather is the most accurate boxer in the last 20 years and Cotto gets hit more then Pronstars, so I gotta roll with Mayweather.

I care because they have a ax to grind here. Scoop is an irrational hater, Arum is a snake and will say anything and Steward is a bitter overrated trainer mad that PBF didn't want to go with him back in the day.

Well Judahs faster and caught him a few times, and Cotto came back and punished him.. Of course Floyd's skills are better but we have to take in account the beating Floyd will take if this were to happen I see this going 12 rounds...
