Jesse Hart vs. Derrick Findley, 6 rounds @ super middleweight

 

Superman Findley is making his way out.

 

Round 1

Hart is leading with jabs between the wrists of Findley, penetrating his tight guard, as well as lead rights high on the head and scooping hooks under the elbows. Hart is finding ways to score even as Findley tanks in with his thick arms in a turtle shell, poking with the jab as Hart dances around it. Hart leans in and wrestles the shorter man away, dropping combos on him at mid-range.

Jesse's chief second is his dad, 70's MW contender and murderous puncher Eugene "Cyclone" Hart. (a notable rival of Marvin Hagler from before his championship days)

 

Round 2

Hart is shuffling around Findley and pushing his jab into his guard, keeping a bead on distance, reaching in a few times and basting the mouth of Findley with the upper edge of his knuckle padding, not quite snapping the jab so much as forcing it through and scrubbing with it to just make contact. Hart is keeping Findley at the end of his wingspan, using the jab and the right cross or uppercut as needed while turning Findley, often with his left glove holding Findley's shoulder to brace him for it. Findley can't get close enough to mount any offense.

Round 3

Left and right uppercuts by Hart. Findley is getting rocked around a bit as he leans forward, head ensconced in his bundled forearms but still an open target on the flanks behind the ear and down to his neck. Lunging jabs and hooks by Findley, countered with step-back jabs and can-opener rights by Hart. Findley grinds into Hart's midsection with his beefy shoulder but the ref splits them. Underhanded slashing left hook by Hart from outside as Findley comes in low once more. Double jab into the guard by Hart spacing himself out. Findley marches forward and rolls side to side to slip the jab, dropping his shoulder and head under it. Clinch.

Derrick looks dejected in his corner, not sitting, arguing with his camp abuot something.

Was he cut in that round? They're dabbing at his eyebrow and looking concerned. :think If there is a cut, it remains too small for the cameras to pick up.

 

He erred.

 

Round 4

Findley is doing lots of pitching forward with his upper body and succeeding mostly in snatching Hart by either side of the rib cage. Hart lashes down at Findley, mostly hitting him on the back but trying to shorten up and aim for his head. Findley taps the body of Hart a few times while mugging him up close and shoving his muscular arms into him. Hart drops some right forearms across his shoulderblades and backs out with the long jab.

Yeah, I think that's what I was trying to convey but obviously not doing a great job of. :yep

Of the pre-championship opponents for Marv, Cyclone was up there with the likes of Boogaloo and Wormy in terms of having established some notability for himself already heading in...although he did far worse than both in the ring with Marv to say the least. :yep (particularly than Monroe) He also lost to both h2h. Good wins over Fullmer, Kitten Heyward, and Seales. Very solid "nearly man" for one who relied on making the most of just a few strong attributes...though strong they were indeed.

 

Round 5

Nice double left hook by Hart, rocking Findley back out of the pocket. Findley is diving forward with the goalposts up and heaving into Hart with both arms. Hart steps out and jabs Findley on the forehead lightly, then slaps him across the face with a long right hand before shuffling off to his left.

Round 6

Hart is popping the jab in and landing at will as Findley comes to him. Findley is tying up every time he cuts the ring off and mows into Hart wiht his phalanx shield outstretched a few inches out from his body. Hart is finding him with the right hand stepping outside. Findley is doing nothing but marching through jabs, blocking head shots, and holding. Hart varies his attack while moving backwards, keeping on the outside as much as he can.
