    Always liked Gonzalez. He had a bit more of that amateur pedigree than was usual for Mexican fighters. I am curious how he would have done a few years earlier.

    At lightweight he was undefeated and beat Leavander Johnson, Hector Lopez, Darryl Tyson, JM Mendy and Calvin Grove.

    His craft was fully rounded and he had a fighter's mentality. Good chin, skills, power and grit.

    I am bringing up Mayweather as a barometer type fighter of the previous era.

    Thoughts?

    I like Gonzalez in this one. He had the determined, steady pressure and the body attack to wilt Mayweather, who hated taking it in the body. Well, and the chin.
