Erick Orozco vs. Hector Garcia, 4 rounds @ super featherweight

 

Round 1

Orozco is setting a fast pace, throwing long right jabs as he steps halfway in on Garcia and strings together right hooks and clap-down lefts. Garcia covers the remaining distance and meets him with high right hands. They slug at mid-range, both landing head shots obliquely with their right hands, Orozco hooking and Garcia firing the high straight. Orozco is putting the left hand lead on Garcia's forehead and slapping with the right hook on the temple. Garcia ducks in on the taller southpaw and tries driving him into the ropes with straight body flurries vaulting in with his upper body flying in while his legs remain planted, forming a right angle.

Round 2

Orozco is planing down the right jab into Garcia's face and then countering with hooks around the arms as Garcia tries forcing exchanges with ramped 1-2s and left hooks on the body. Orozco is putting together right hooks and left crosses at short range, giving up his advantage in height and then pushing off with a right jab between the eyes as he spaces himself out. Garcia keeps pressing in and forcing Orozco to trade with him, and catches some body shots on the elbows. Big right uppercut by Garcia. Orozco slugs with him, leaning in. Garcia lands a right hand high on the head. Orozco pushes Garcia into a corner with a long flurry and Garcia lands two looping rights, causing Orozco to back off, imbalanced. BIG right hand by Garcia, thrown straight out but upside down, with his palm facing the ceiling, and Orozco is down! Garcia stays on him with left jabs, Orozco picking them off by quickly shooting his right glove out a few inches as he backs up. Big right hand by Garcia, grazing the nose of Orozco.

Round 3

Orozco is jabbing the face and hooking the body of Garcia. Right uppercut by Garcia slicing into the chest of Orozco as Garcia leans in on him with his arms up as battering rams while ducking in past Orozco's flurries off the right jab. Orozco is backing away when Garcia throws his high right hand, then putting a straight left into the guard and finishing with a loose ad inaccurate right hook. Garcia is stepping forward hurling up right hands blindly. Orozco backs out and fires a straight left without measuring distance with the jab, almost falling in as he reaches. Long left uppercut by Orozco, grazing the arms. Body uppercuts by Garcia. Left hand buzzing the top of the head by Orozco. More body flurries by Garcia.

Round 4

Orozco is throwing jabs into the abdomen and jowls of Garcia from outside, taking long backward steps with his rear foot and dragging the lead. Orozco makes Garcia walk onto several hard combos built off the jab. Garcia eats a left hand, right hook, left hand - snapping his head back - but he keeps coming. Garcia is ducking and swerving in, looking to land on the body but falling short. BIG left hand by Orozco knocking Garcia's head back again and pushing him onto the ropes. Less than a minute left; Orozco is looking for a KO. He walks into an overhand right! They exchange head and body shots, Garcia almost backed onto the ropes again. Orozco uses right arm feints and then fires the 1-2, making Garcia hook widely around his sides and hold. Wild shots by Garcia, missing.

Rafael Guzman vs. Raul Hinojosa, 8 rounds @ light welterweight

Round 1

Hinojosa is pawing his right jab and throwing short-distance left uppercuts, basically swooping the arm up in the air on a steep slope barely two inches out from his body. A few triangle left hands from Hinojosa, reminiscent of Grzegorz Proksa's. Guzman is ducking and dodging these unusual blows, and putting together right hands on the body and chin along with left hooks on the ear in the furious exchanges as Hinojosa presses in and slaps at him with both hands. The referee cautions Guzman for a borderline low blow near the end of the round.

Round 2

Guzman is pushing Hinojosa across the ring with his 1-2, staying away from the right jab by taking short hops outside and knocking it down with his left glove. Guzman presses in and jacks Hinojosa's jaw with a left hook after threshing his body with both hands leaning his strong frame in on him. Hinojosa is looking to skip out to about medium range and score a right jab, instead seeing an opening for a hook and landing it just before the bell.

Round 3

Explosive start from Hinojosa, throwing looping lefts and right hooks and turning his hips into each. Guzman starts ducking and swiveling to avoid them and coming up with counter right hands. Guzman rows out his left jab to swat at Hinojosa's right. Hinojosa is pushed onto the ropes by the right hand of Guzman but answers back with a side-slapping right hook. Uppercut on the belly, left hook on the face by Guzman as Hinojosa comes to him. Hinojosa wrestles Guzman onto the ropes and throws a wild flurry of left uppers and right hooks, mostly skimming the arms. Right hand and left hook by Garcia, not covering up between his shots and getting caught by a flush right hook. Both men landing with big power here, and both showing good chins. Hinojosa lands a straight left and right hook. Accidental headbutt and Hinojosa is cut, blinking away the blood dripping into his left eye. The ref calls time out. The cut is looked at. Bad, right on the lid, deep and wide. This might get stopped immediately.
