    Round 6

Jabs traded. Ramirez backs away. Clinch as Beltran jabs in. Beltran is throwing huge showstoppers, getting a bit reckless and missing a few. Ramirez is ducking in and clinching. Ref breaks 'em. Double jab by Beltran. Left uppercut off a jab by Beltran. Ramirez clinches. Break. Overhand right by Beltran. Right to the body by Ramirez. BIG right uppercut by Beltran. Ramirez spins Beltran onto the ropes. Body shots by Ramirez. Beltran is looking to counter with a flurry off the ropes but Ramirez tattoos him with a hard power shoeshine. Ramirez falls and lays flat on his back, gum shield spat out.

    TKO6!!

Morning IB:good - can't sadly watch the fight but it looks like you got Beltran going all Tyson Fury on himself at the end of the round there!

That was an insane come from behind knockout.

    Flub.

"Beltran finishes the round working Ramirez over with left hooks downstairs and chopping rights only partially caught on the guard."

This was brutal to call, at 1am, after several beers. Their build, haircut, skin tone and both colors of each man's trunks were virtually identical. :!: Ramirez is slightly taller, but otherwise...

    Again? :patsch

    :pc

Beltran falls flat on his back.

Yeah, the kid came from behind and won...having come in on just a few days' notice. Barreterito blew it. He won five and a half rounds, was bossing Ramirez, but the moment he got spun around (once the ref moved in and pushed them apart) he got pasted. It was just a wild exchange where Diaz, for the first time all night, got the best of it with straights, hooks, and uppers, not much rhyme or reason to it and none of it landed super flush on the button, but all of a sudden Beltran just twirled down onto his back and his mouthpiece came out while he kicked his feet like a tantruming child and that was it.

    Really really weird ending.

 I was just about to ask after the second one - do these guys look like twins or something?

Hmm...just took the time to boxrec - that's a big win for Ramirez. sounds like he was getting worked over pretty bad but the ability to pull out the win in the face of adversity is a good one to have.

Carlos Diaz "Chuko" Ramirez TKO6 Miguel "Barreterito" Beltran Jr., after being dominated for over half the scheduled distance.

Yeah, and it was very odd, as it wasn't just a case of him tapping Beltran on the chin with a perfect single blow or anything. For the first minute of the 6th Beltran was as much as ever the aggressor, looking perhaps on his way to scoring a knockout...then Ramirez grabbed him, spun him and traded places with him, and when the ref pushed them apart Beltran never had a chance to move himself off the ropes as Diaz just came in unloading on him in a rapid role reversal. It was basically just a long power flurry, like I said no one big punch, but it broke Beltran down in a matter of seconds and left him staring up at the rafters. :conf

So Ramirez basically took one too many and went all Hulk on him?

Still - if he took the fight at short notice and got beat up for 6 rounds that still shows something.

Very curious - caught a fight report for Beltran - Ramirez (cept they call him just Carlos Dias) on 'Scene and they seem to have watched a different fight from IB, having Ramirez in control through most of the fight, though with Beltran doing better in 3.:think

Hmm...you know how you got the names mixed up a coupla times, IB? And your mention of a wild hallucinogen filled youth (much like my own)?

You don't think it could perhaps be catching up with you?

    No.

Look on Twitter and you'll see many accounts matching what I saw. People were shocked Diaz won, and everybody agreed he was losing big time entering the sixth. That article on BS is BS, hell just look at the comments on it.

Jake Donovan's recollection is inexplicable, really. The 1st through 5th were massive Beltran rounds.
