Well there goes what most of us were hoping was Lomachenko's next fight. And strong, prime 130 lber Berchelt defending against a former super flyweight who must be close to 40 now?
Damn.. This is, after all, what my boy has been working toward throughout his comeback...one more (richly deserved) big payday/legacy opportunity, but he has to be considered a massive underdog here,
Miguel Roman, Jhonny Gonzales, Kenichi Ogawa are some options. (Fingers crossed for Ogawa) Top Rank has a few prospects like Casey Ramos but nobody note worthy at 130. (I just remembered that Gonzales is looking for that WBC title.)
Ogawa perhaps? Pick up another belt. As for this fight. Its fine. Berchelt has been fighting top guys recently. A come home fight against a guy with a name in Mexico isnt bad.
Props to Mijares for the old war horse's last run culminating in a title fight , but I'm filing this one in the "be careful what you wish for" box for him. If he leaves this fight with a happy ending, it'll be damn well earned.
is that the guy farmer just fought? if so i dont think ogawa will get the loma fight because a rematch may be ordered
