Have you seen his performances lately? Dude has aged like fine wine, and is actually physically quite strong at feather and super feather and even seems to have experienced an implausible and counterintuitive spike in pop lately (but not a hugely significant one, before any morons come in here chirping about PED accusations. He's just able to get the respect of much bigger guys with his sharp punching, more than you would have ever imagined a few years ago before he moved up) His only legitimate defeat since the Darchinyan kayo, nine years ago, was to Leo Santa Cruz (he was robbed both times versus Cermeño and then HORRIFICALLY and bafflingly versus Terrazas, whom Mijares dominated), which is nothing to be too ashamed of, since the rest of his opposition hasn't just been a big pile of tomato cans. Two of his recent conquests, Andrés Gutiérrez and Jesús Arévalo, challenged for world titles just in the last couple of months. The latter went up to lightweight and gave a heck of a good account of himself in a loss to slick-as-fresh-cat-shit Yvan Mendy. Jaguarcito likewise didn't embarrass himself in a try for the WBC featherweight title, but was just in with a motivated & rejuvenated elite in Abner Mares who dialed back the clock & put on maybe the performance of his life. If he does get steamrolled, I will be sad but not surprised. On the other hand, if Berchelt ends up getting schooled, don't let me hear you crying about how nobody could have seen it coming, because the possibility is there, and stronger than you might think.
Berchelt isn't perfect, guys. We're still just a couple years removed from him getting iced lickety-split by a nobody (who's now 23-8..) Once a dumb-dumb... always someone that could theoretically be turned & countered all night by a chess-master and top 5 pure boxer of the current millennium who never let himself get rusty, has worn new weights surprisingly well and continued a run of very sharp looking form against consistently B to B+ opposition...

Bro, with all due respect, you're not exactly going out on limb there. What is your prediction, if you are going to chastise me for "crying?" Honestly I haven't watched Mijares in a few years. But old and small is a bad combination. I think he was good enough in his prime to get HOF consideration. He is, at least active, so there's that.
