But deserves 3rd place next to Mayweather and pacqiauo

 

Cotto has the multi cultural appeal which has added to his popularity across many different ethnic groups. He's never in a boring fight and while he doesnt ooze charisma out of his pores he's intresting enough to follow and he's proven himself in the ring time and time again. Its been stated the guy's certainly a bonified HOF though not quite an ATG.....the only guys that fit the criteria at the moment would be Pac and Floyd and possibly Wlad though I still think he has some proving yet.

If he was to fight and defeat GGG at middleweight, rematch Pac or Floyd and beat one of them you'd have to place him 3rd behind Pac and Floyd as this generations best....mind you we have the Wards, Wlads, Hopkins of the world so its still a tight conversation though their are so many variables you need to consider when getting into these discussions. Heck I don't rate Joe Calz to much however their are folks who rank him No. 1.....TBH I can't truly knock them as Joe might just meet their own personal thresholds that put him at the top....

 

Quiting on your knees, and fight shot fighters? Ducking the Number 1 contender? Acting like a diva? Yeah Cotto has class.:roll::roll::roll:

 

You're entitled to your opinion, but just like a*%holes, everyone has one and they usually stink. Now, if you can go through everything Cotto went through under the same circumstances he went through it, in and out of the ring, I might have some respect for your opinion. Better yet,why don't you step in the ring with him for just one round. Sounds to me like you haven't accomplished much in your life, because when you have, there are certain things that come along with those accomplishments, the right to ask for certain things. If you excell at your job, which you probably don't, then you can ask for better pay, or a bigger office, or a company car. But you wouldn't know anything about that, would you?

 

Kneeguel Cottoe is one of the most overrated fighters the sport has ever seen. And not to mention an eyebrow plucking f_aggot.

 

Half of your reasons why Cotto is so awesome are things you think he would have done if Margarito hadn't beaten him and made him quit.

Hypothesis: If Cotto was Black, Mexican, or White he'd be nothing. Got where he did because of his Puerto Rican fanbase. Every other fanbase has better fighters than Cotto. It just so happens he's the best Puerto Rican, hence all the love, opportunities, and nuthugging.

Kind of like Seanie Monaghan/Andrej Fonfara's situation but with vastly more talent.

P.S.
It just occurred to me that Cotto is one of the biggest stars NOT to unify any world titles, ever. So not only has he built a career out of exploiting vacant straps, crippled champions, and crippled "champions" (*cough* Foreman who won a vacant against f*cking Santos to set up Cotto), he also never bothered to attempt a unification.

Doesn't sound like a great fighter.

Cotto did quit on his knees. not an opinion. FACT
Martinez was 39 years old, had two knee surgeries, shoulder and hand surgeries, and was coming off a 14 layoff. FACT
GGG is the number #1 contender, Cotto has not interest in fighting him. FACT
Cotto acted like a diva in the Martinez fight, even thou he wasn't a rated middleweight. FACT
