Spinks beat Holmes and acquired the lineal title. There's nothing opinionated about that and Tyson, who held all the belts, wanted to fight Spinks to get the lineal title because it meant something to him.

Well good for him, and I still don't agree with it. I'm not going to entertain the idea that a guy with no belt is a champion of something, either the lineage restarts or he needs to get his WBC title back somehow...

 

If the title is vacant now Canelo should not be fighting for it! But he already paid the fees and the fight is few days away, maybe I'll give WBC a pass.

Ideally GGG should have been named full champ yesterday since Cotto got STRIPPED.

 

I'm okay with it but it does seem really convenient for WBC.. Should Canelo win they get the champ they want, should he lose well **** it Cotto's not paying us anyway lol, no lose situation for them.

A title is a honor or rank given or earned by someone. These belts are just symbols of the title. Can you show me a picture of the WBC title? Not some certificate or other symbol of the title but a picture of the title per se.

 

In the last 10 years only Hopkins has been able to avoid being stripped and he had all 4 belts for a handful of fights.

It is exceptionally rare for a man to own all 4 at the same time, in fact Hopkins is the only man ever.

 

Against regular contenders, Golovkin can defend 4 times a year, so if he decides to stay at MW for a while, he can do that without getting stripped.

I do think that there will be not too many good options really soon and he will move to SMW.

 

Well he will beonly the 2nd man since the inception of the WBO belt to hold all 4 four until the end of his reign. Doesn't seem probable to me.
