Are we still very suspicious of Miguel Cotto's chin? He has proven he has heart, but can he take a real punch clean on the whiskers? We saw him slightly wobbled against a feather-fisted Yuri Foreman. How confident are we that he can take Martinez' best shot and hang in there?

How devastating is Martinez' punching power Really? In two fight with Williams he has canvassed him. He didnt significantly hurt Cintron and although he mutilated Pavlik's face he never really had him in trouble of being Ko'ed or even wobbled.

    So the question stands:

Are we still suspicious of Cotto's chin or are we Overrating Martinez Punching Power? Which will prevail the Chin of the Punching Power?:think

Cotto has never been KOed by one punch. All his losses came by significant and prolonged punishment. However, he has been wobbled in many fights... I don't think he has a bad chin, but we will have to see...

Martinez doesn't have big power. He has respectable power. I think Paul Williams was just hit with a perfect punch. I might be wrong, but for now I don't believe that Martinez has huge power.

What weight we talking about 154 or 160?

And if you think Cotto has a bad chin. Find yourself a rope and hang yourself now.

the presumed weight is 155lbs. I think Cotto was wobbled at 140lbs and even knocked down, Ithink he was hurt often and Knocked down and TKO'ed at 147lbs, so yeah Im curious and a little leary if he can take a solid shot from a natural 154 pounder that fights at 160lb. And remember southpaws seem to land easily on Cotto. Watch the fights with Zab judah, Chop Chop Corley and of course Manny Pacquiao.

Cotto has a good chin. He took bombs from Mosley, Pacquiao and Margarito. Against Pac and Marg he was stopped on attrition and whilst fully conscious. Cotto has a good chin, but if he's beaten up badly enough he will stop trying to win. Martinez may possibly be the hardest puncher Cotto has faced, but maybe not. Martinez was never seen as a big puncher before his one punch KO of Williams. I don't think Martinez has a lot of pure concussive power, but he's the kind of guy who can catch his opponent with those perfect shots that land pinpoint on the button when they're least expecting it. It's his speed, accuracy and unorthodox punching angles/trickery more than pure power. If he catches Cotto with this type of punch he could KO Cotto cold, but I don't think any one punch of his that Cotto is ready for will hurt him that much. But, remember that the punches that Pac landed that KD'd Cotto were these types of fast, accurate, punches that caught Cotto off guard, the same type of punch Martinez is very good at landing, so I think it's very possible that Martinez could separate Cotto from his senses.

If Martinez doesn't land one of those punches, he could still TKO Cotto on attrition, and this is the out-come I believe to be most likely.

Yes, this susceptibility to fast sneaky punches from southpaws, plus Martinez' excellence at landing these types of punches, plus Martinez natural power (probably hits harder than Pacquiao and Judah) is why I think Martinez stands a good chance of becoming the first person to legitimately knock Cotto out, rather than making him quit (Margarito) or forcing a ref stoppage (Pac).

You know if he wasn't facing a southpaw it would be one thing. But its kinda how Vlad Klitschko has his issues facing Southpaws, Cotto just gets hit way too easily by these guys. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that Cotto is a natural southpaw and doesnt really have an authoritative right-hand to force the lefty to keep that left hand holstered.

I'm sorry, but Cotto has a great chin. He can get wobble yeah but he stays on hes damn feet. If you think otherwise you're crazy.

And yes Martinez is the fresher fighter in this fight, but I think were making Martinez good like here. Cotto has a good chance. And I'll sure as hell will be rooting for him from day one lose or win. Cotto is the ****ing truth.

Please someone show me some proof of Martinez god like power that doesn't include the Williams fight?? Anyone please.

Marquez get knock down almost every fight in the early rounds so did Trinidad, but they get back the **** up and win just like Cotto did. STFU.

you're opinion sounds biased. im a huge Cotto fan but i'm also a realist. Your not supporting your claim. Cotto was getting knocked around by 140lb little guys and the excuse was that Cotto had to kill himsel to make that weight. Then he moved up and got thoroughly wobbed by Judah. Now he's goona fight 10lbs higher and your saying his chin will stand up no problem against Martinez. Whatever you say!:-(
