Miguel Cotto fought everyone in their prime and he was clean the entire time. He deserves more!

With Floyd's retirement following the Hatton fight and Cotto moving full time to the WW division, he looked like he was on a very promising trajectory leading up to that Margarito I fight. I always wondered how Miguel's career would've looked had he not got in the ring with Tony on that night and accumulated the amount of punishment he did.

He's an excellent fighter- HOF fighter without question-but he falls short of being one of the true greats of his era IMO. He beat the corpse of Sergio Martinez for the MW title, I never thought he could beat an in prime version of Maravilla who was criminally underrated in his true prime.

Cotto was also the middleweight champion. How many welterweight champs became middleweight champs? Not too many.

He beat a blown up JMW who had 1 leg. Some context. Then he ran from the best fighters in the MW division.

Four division champ. 14 successful defenses across those divisions. First ballot Hall of Famer.

He won the lineal middleweight title from the middleweight champion and he fought Canelo, who is the best middleweight and likely super middleweight and who might become the light heavyweight champ next time out.

And he lost. Which is a common theme in Cotto's career anytime he steps up. His best win is an old Shane Mosley. And for guys like Pacquiao we don't even put that on his radar of wins.

He won the middleweight title from the lineal middleweight champion.

You can count the number of junior welterweight (super lightweight) and welterweight champions who won the middleweight title on one hand.

Only because he won it from a crippled guy who was ducking the consensus H2H best fighter in the division at the time who was Golovkin when Golovkin was actually in his prime.

Bull. A 'crippled' guy? Grow up.

Quote from Martinez: "I got hit. I was cold, and I never recovered from that. You gotta know when to win, and you gotta know when to lose."

Cotto won the LINEAL middleweight title from the reigning LINEAL middleweight champion.

    You're a clown.

Uh...… no. The irony of this post. A guy telling another person to "Grow up" because they don't agree with your opinion. Maybe you should grow up and realize that not everybody thinks the exact same way you do.

He won the LINEAL MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE from the Reigning MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION.

That's the fact. You don't get to choose FACTS. They are facts. Donald Trump.

I'm sorry, were you praising him for moving up and winning the LINEAL MIDDLEWEIGHT title here?

This is a very good analogy to describe Cotto.

I think Cotto is a great A-list fighter. Technically good and fearless. Just like others said, he is enjoyable to watch and have quite big fanbase. But somehow always fall short in historical fights that would catapulted his reputation even higher.

Did you know that Cotto is actually Daud Yordan's most favorite boxer and inspiration ? He named his son, Miguel Angel Yordan Jr. , after him.
