I forgot about the jones fight, but I dont think Hopkins had him out on his feet. I'm talking about the kind of punches that make you look drunk or half sleep, the way Cotto was against Corley & Torres.

But i can defintely see your point.

Oh he's been really hurt. He just had amazing recovery abilities.

Cotto took one flush hook from Corley and was wobbly for a whole round. His recovery abilities are at best a B.

DAMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!! BigReg, you got me on that one man. I completely forgot about that punch. I can definitely appreciate that reminder though. I stand corrected.

Going back to the thread comments. he definitely didnt show tremendous recovery skills from that punch.

Oh, and another thing you made me think about after watching that video was how much hopkins let his hands go. Had he fought this way against taylor and Calzaghe, i think he could have beaten them both.

Yeah, he definately needed to let his hands go and work the body. He did neither against Calzaghe. As far as Tito goes, besides the Jones and Hopkins fights, I don't think he was ever really hurt. Those other KD's were flash KD's. Cotto was certainly hurt against Torres and Corley. Zab had him hurt, but he wasn't hurt to the point where he couldn't defend himself.

It drives me crazy though how Jones couldnt finish him off. He should have easily blitzed thru tito within 6 rounds.

I think that's what Jones is missing. It looks like the speed and reflexes are still there. His defense looks pretty good as well. However, the power and his ablility to finish might not be there anymore. Tito had been out of the ring for like 2 years and was fighting well above his best weight. Roy had him hurt and couldn't finish the job; very frustrating indeed.

Do you think hee couldnt finish or for some reason didnt want to finish. IMO, it didnt seem like he tried very hard to do so. something tells me he is still a slight bit gun shy as if he is still a bit nervous to let himself get caught with that punch.

You could be right. Getting brutally knocked out twice may have made this guy gun shy.

Cotto was truly hurt against Corley and Torres. Torres rocked him in the 2 rounds.

Why he has no chance at beating Mayweather. He's been opened up by second tier fighters, been rocked and put on ***** street by guys like Torres and Corley, barely could handle an old Mosley. Mayweather who is the best counterpuncher, most precise puncher in boxing will work this guy easy. It probably wont come to that once Margo gets him in the ring though.
