Cotto talks about his loss to Margarito and the then upcoming Jennings fight.

Surprised to find out Cotto weighed up to 178.

Do most boxers get up to around 30 pounds over their fighting weight when not active, or does it vary from fighter to fighter?

Some do, although 30 pounds is a lot for Cotto.

Of course it varys from fighter to fighter. Im sure Hatton puts on alot more than 30 pounds between fights.

One of the reasons he deteriorated so fast was what happened to Roy Jones. Recall they were immense athletes, with their athletic prowess being just beyond anyone. But that kind athletic ability only lasts so long. Bernard Hopkins once remarked "Roy Jones never learned the fundamentals of the game" - he was right. Why are people like Hopkins and Winky able to fight with so much longevity - they learned the basics.

Car accident is different. I believe in the depressed state where one could eat. for myself back in the day, I don't ever remember going past ten pounds after a fight. You still have to train lightly. Hatton putting on all that weight makes no sense. How tall is Cotto 5'7 or 5'8 and to weigh past 170 is too much. I never understood the walking around weight. The first fight is the weight, but some fighters go to far. This will catch up to you sooner or later. Hatton being a prime example.

i'm 5'8 and i walk around at about 178-180 and dont look fat at all...so i'm pretty sure it's easy for him to gain all that weight, especially when after a fight you can enjoy life....

In the past Hatton has actulaly gone from 140 at the weighin to 180 inbetween fight's.

All fighters should look after themselves inbetween fight's like Hopkins and Hagler did.

Those guys never stopped trainning and look how great they were.

You'll never find any fat footge of Hopkins or Hagler.

    Those guy's lived boxing.
